Olmert says that no Israeli government will allow Iran to get nukes. Well, it’s nice to know that someone is going to handle up on that. I’ve been afraid that Iran is going to suicide bomb Israel. They’ll strap their nukes to their country and then hurl the entire country at Israel and explode. Yeah, launching nuclear missiles at Israel would be smarter, but that region didn’t get the way it is because everyone there is really, really smart.
Man Olmert is the quintessential feckless labor / liberal type. All they do well is graft and corruption. ( see any similarities to the USA on that point ? mmmm let me think ) Comes to some real GNP like putting the iron to rogue countries like Iran and all they can do is spout empty empty EMPTY words. How many schlerotic Olmerian attempts is Israel going allow before they elect someone effective like Bebe Netanyahu ?

My guess: An Israeli first strike with atomic weapons would be mean the end of Israel. They would be immediately be isolated with every nation against them, no aid, no trade partners, nada. What government would dare support them? Collapse would be certain.
And that assumes the first strike succeeded and Israel itself did not suffer significant retaliatory damage.
I want Israel to survive. Iran with nukes will not be good. If they use them that is bad. If they do not it just poses more control problems. The only real hope I see is that the Iranian government is not as reckless or mad as they seem. And the Israeli’s do not foolishly strike first.
Iran still seems to have contested elections. And – if I am correct – their President does not direct the military forces. Both good.
Let’s see….
1.) Iran has a major program going to develop weapons-grade uranium. It’s just a matter of time before they figure it out for themselves. Unless, of course, the North Koreans don’t just give it to them.
2.) Last week Iram apparently successfully launched a satellite into space, with a long-range, two-stage rocket that has true ICBM potential capabilities.
3.) Regardless what the people of Iran think of their leadership, the radical Islamacists have a strangle-hold on power in Iran, ruthlessly suppressing any real dissent to their aspirations to de-stablize the region and lead the Caliphat to global domination.
But let’s try to ignore all that, and just point our fingers at the Israelis. It’s easy, fun, and makes us real popular with most of the 3rd world types, American Democrats, and almost all Europeans.

As long as they do it with conventional weapons and not nukes, the cowards at the un will simply nash their teeth and issue useless resolutions.

Oh dear there seems to be some lack of reality floating around in the air on this post.
1. Iran is just as crazy as they’ve always been or does the phrase “Israel should not be allow to exist” mean something different to you than to me?
2. Abi-nutjob is a 12’er. He believes the 12th Iman will return when the Earth is in chaos to save the day for “his” followers and anything that they can do to hasten his return will get them presents. Seriously.
3. The rest of the Arab world will NEVER turn on their brothers no matter how suicidal they are. Life is cheap there. After all they lose people they make other that look just like them. Put the women and children in the front. Since they’re not really people it doesn’t matter much.
4. Using logic that is founded on the Judeo-Christian philosophy to explain or evaluate Iran and it’s fellow Arab states is like using a strainer to pour lemonade. We have nothing in common including our outlook on life. Their mantra is convert or die, ours is every person is free to chose, what part of “kill the infidel” do people here not understand. Over there they understand that concept very, very well.
