Crist

So what’s up with Crist? Does he think the voters of Florida really want an establishment RINO candidate who went along with Obama’s stimulus and is orange? I just don’t think it’s his year.

Some people don’t take a hint. Usually it’s the left, who are like, “We need to be even more liberal this year if we want to win!” And then there’s Crist who think it’s the time for squish candidates who stand for nothing in particular.

All politicians are crazy. Normal people get regular jobs and don’t even think of running for office because they have too many actual things to do. Still, we do occasionally run into the exceptionally sociopathic candidates like John Edwards, and now here’s Crist running independent and pissing off his own party for no other discernible reason than he really just doesn’t want to get an actual job.

Again, this is all an argument for small government. Politics attracts weirdos like this, and this is why you want to limit the power of government as much as possible so there is only so much they can screw up. That should be government 101, but instead it’s a constant battle as the left apparently wants people like Crist who are out just for themselves making our health care decisions and more. We could all end up orange!

  1. Here in FLA we’ve never elected an independent candidate to a statewide office from what I’m told. He does however attract support from both conservatives and ‘tards, er, I mean, liberals, so he has a shot to be the first.

  2. I find it highly ironic that the google ad I’m seeing on the left sidebar is “Charlie Crist for United States Senate”.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: google really needs to work on their ad placement/word association algorithms.

  3. I love these guys that, when it’s clear that no one in their own party wants them, rather than drop out of the race, switch to Independent or Democrat. It’s the statement, “How could the country possibly continue on without me in office?” The ultimate in narcissism, and the best example why they should NEVER be in office.

  4. He must think people have short memories (not a bad bet, really). This whole thing started when the Florida Republican party backed his bid over a year ago. Conservatives were upset that the party was preemptively backing a RINO without a second thought. In his speech declaring his Indy run, he constantly referred to himself as “the people’s candidate.” We’re really supposed to believe that the ultimate insider became “the people’s candidate” in the span of a year?

  5. The most likely explanation is that Crist is being paid to hurt the GOP. Thinking he can’t win he chose to make the best deal for Crist.

If he runs as an independent he gets a million or two under the table. And a bonus if the seat does go to the Democrat. And maybe Obama gives him a desirable appointment.

Crist might even win as an Independent. That is very unlikely but stranger things have happened in politics. Then he would have the money AND be a Senator.

  6. While I doubt any money changed hands, I bet there was an appointment promised. Ambassador to someplace where he will leave with mustache of a wife here, and take his “special assistant”.
