Still Drill?

The huge, devastating oil spill in the Gulf is making people question whether we should “Drill, baby, drill!” As I understand it, there are two reasons we drill for oil:

1. We need oil.
2. Oil is obtained by drilling.

And unless one of those two things change, we will continue to drill for oil. Bill Maher was on This Week for some reason (“Angry, unfunny comic — bring us wisdom!”) and was convinced that somehow Brazil got over number one in the past twenty years. I’m not sure how he thought they did that — it probably involved leprechauns riding unicorns –but no, you can’t have a country without oil unless you want to play Renaissance fair 24/7.

So, even though we’re like, “Oh no! Drilling is scary and bad!”, the fact is we still have to drill and drill a lot. We can just have third world countries do the drilling and deal with the spills and buy the oil from them, or we can man up and drill for oil here in America. I suggest we drill in the Grand Canyon. That way if we spill, it’s already in this big container so no big whoop.

  1. Excellent idea, drilling in the Grand Canyon. Which gives me another great idea. We damn off and drain the Gulf Of Mexico. Then we have a nice deep container to catch all the oil, we just let it fill up and we skim whatever oil we need. We can rename it Gulf Of Oil or Gulf of Petroleum. Of course, no more beaches on the Gulf Coast, not to mention the loss of the sea food industry from Texas to Florida, but hey, I don’t like swimming and I hate seafood so I don’t see a down side here.

  2. How about we drill all up and down the Mexican border. That way if there is an oil slick, not only does it make it harder for illegals to cross, but we have a ready source of cheap labor to help clean it up.

  3. Anytime there’s an important matter to discuss, it’s always best to bring in liberal comedians. Their years of self-obsession, while getting drunk in nasty comedy clubs give them a solid knowledge base to draw from when discussing world affairs.

  4. Pre-oiled shrimp for the grill? Yummy!!!!

Bill Maher is an obvious expert on matters if Science! and ecology. If anyone understands black slimey sludge it’s Maher. He is knows his own soul.

The liberal blogs are in a panic. They think this spill will destroy all the world’s oceans and eventually smother the land masses. I’m series11!11!!!

  5. Oh! The slick was caused by oil drilling! I though bill mare and barry sotero went swimming. That explains the moron leftists gnashing this week after the mandatory waiting period of eight days.

  6. 1. We need oil.
    2. Oil is obtained by drilling.

Once again, Frank, reductio ad intelligo. Bravo.

My long term plan is to build an oil derrick in my back yard as a patriotic gesture. I don’t plan to strike black gold; however, once other patriots join in by erecting their own symbolic derricks, we won’t care where we drill because oil derricks will be everywhere.

  7. No more drilling!! Absolutely no more drilling!! We need to put Anthony Fremont to work on this problem…after all, if he can wish people into the cornfield…he can wish oil out of the ground. Problem solved.

Take that, Bill Maher. 7,060 sea depth (Deepwater Horizon was only 5,000). And a happy little quote:

By specializing in advanced ultra-deep offshore oil exploration, Brazil has moved from being a country dependent on Ethanol for its gasoline consumption to becoming a net exporter of oil within less than a decade.

Where DO they get their ideas? You can’t reason with these people (despite their worship of Science!); At that level of ignorance, it is difficult to know even where to begin.

Oh and by the way, the US contributed $2-billion to help fund this discovery.

  9. Why doesn’t someone ask a**holes like him A) why, if these 3rd world hell holes are so wonderful, do 2/3 of their population COME HERE? and more importantly B) If all these places are soooooo wonderful, why don’t they GO LIVE THERE???
