Link of the Day: Day by Day Cartoon – Man vs. PC

[High Praise! to Chris Muir’s Day by Day Cartoon]

It’s a big ol’ Sunday strip, so better you go there to see it than me trying to squish it to fit over here.

Wisdom of the Day: Conversation Ban Minorities Pricked Spoon

Can’t We Just Pretend to Pass Gun Control to Make Dumb People Feel Safe?

So people are acting pretty set on gun control, but all their ideas are things that do nothing but pester law abiding gun owners. Like the “assault weapons” ban or banning high-capacity magazines — which won’t actually be banned since they won’t confiscate what’s already out there. It will just make those things more expensive — hence annoying to gun owners like me. But apparently this gives a false sense of security to idiots since if you put the word “ban” on something, they think that means those things disappear.

So idea: Let’s just pretend to pass gun control. The people who most want it won’t know the difference between an actual law being passed and absolutely nothing being done, so can’t we just say we passed a bunch of laws and pretend everyone is safer? We’ll call it the “Super Deadly Gun Ban Act” and it will ban fully-automatic bolt action shotguns and armor piercing hollow points and any magically enchanted guns. And then all the dumb people will cheer, “We is safer!”

So it’s the same result as an “assault weapon” ban, but no enforcement costs and no petty intrusions on liberty. If people want useless things done to make us all feel safer, can’t we all just play along?

Senator Scott

So Nikki Haley has picked Tim Scott to replace DeMint as Senator. This has made a lot of people note how rare black Senators still are. I think it’s pretty easy to see the reason for that, though. One, there aren’t many black Republicans. Two, the prominent black politicians on the Democrat’s side tend to be completely unelectable outside of a few districts. They run on racial appeals in federally mandated majority-minority districts, and this of course produces huge idiots (it’s like what kind of people would we expect to be elected if there were mandated KKK district). Really, for the sake of our country we need to put more shame on the racism in the Democratic Party.

Anyway, Scott seems to be universally loved pick. He grew up poor in a single parent home and made something of himself (with the help of Chick-fil-A). But since he’ll now be a U.S. Senator, I’m going to assume he’s an idiot until proven otherwise.

Cartoon of the day – no guns

Liberals and other defective thinkers seem to think that if we just pass enough laws and regulations, things will magically get better.

I’m not sure whose brains are more defective. Is it the person that decides to shoot up a school or a mall or, well, just anything? Or is it the person who thinks that someone who would shoot up a school or a mall would not dare break a law that bans guns?

Make no mistake: both types of brains are defective. Neither should be involved in making decisions for others.

Random Thoughts: Grr! NRA!

Reasons there are few black Senators is there are few black Republicans and black Dems tend to be unelectable outside of certain districts. Barack Obama would be a notable exception to that.

Teach proper gun usage in school so people aren’t so mystified and terrified of them.

People don’t support gun rights because the NRA is so powerful; the NRA is so powerful because people support gun rights.

All you people focusing your ire on the NRA are useless idiots. You’re not going to stop one criminal doing that.

Unless you’re going to enforce it with armed guards and metal detectors, gun free zones make people less safe.

We need a national discussion on how the “assault weapon” ban was useless and did nothing.

It’s not a “reasonable restriction” if it keeps me from carrying a reliable firearm anywhere I or my family might be vulnerable.

Reasonable Restriction: Our federal government shouldn’t sell guns directly to Mexican drug cartels.

I know the cartels are going to get guns anyway, but it still seems unnecessary.

Not to sound sexist, but it’s stupid to be a woman who lives alone and not own a gun.

Compromise idea: Only women are allowed to own guns.

The GOP should promote a pro-woman policy of making sure more women have guns.

Pushing for gun bans could result in a civil war. And a civil war between those with guns and those without would be pretty lopsided.

They’re not really “fully-automatic” since they still require you to pull the trigger.

That fact we even have to explain why gun confiscation won’t work shows how many people don’t take this seriously.

You know how we clapped our hands and said we believe in fairies to save Tinkerbell? Maybe if we did the opposite of that for guns.

Why would they release movie trailers on the internet only in Apple’s stupid Quicktime format? What is the thinking behind that?
