I think a nice mellow song is just what we need for a Friday night. I can feel the heat under the street…like a Spanish Dancer.

Orville Wright, bicycle shop owner and aviation pioneer (along with his brother Wilbur), was born in Dayton, Ohio, August 19, 1871. Flying then couldn’t have been any less pleasant than it is now.
The stupid thing about the spotted owl controversy is how the loggers spun it. They were all “we’ll lose our jobs; we’ll have to sell our houses and move..” and such, as if they were being denied the right to cut down the last 2,000 acres of lumber in the state. Which, even if it were true, at the rate they clearcut forests, they’d only have taken 3 years to clear cut the owl’s 2,000 acres. So really, what they were complaining about was having to move to find work 3 years sooner than planned (and given how long the court case took, they’d already had years to find another job and move).
