I was never a huge fan of The Police. The rock group. I’ve known some actual policemen that were great men and women. And some that weren’t. But the rock group? Kinda okay. I owned exactly zero of their albums. I almost bought one of them one time, but didn’t. I decided to eat that week instead.
What’s been on your mind? Got something you’d like to share? A topic to discuss? It’s Thursday Night Open Thread.
Who wants to start?

They were actually considered a Punk Band. A good one. I never bought any of their stuff either..guess I may have been caught between a Scylla and Charybdis.
Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers, awesome! Sting, meh. I really got into the Police only because Neil Peart said they were an influence in the early 80’s and I do dig Rush… (2nd only to the Beatles)
People singing along to an instrumental? Insane!

He made no mention that his career was negatively affected because he sucks.

Joanie Loves Chachi and Charles in Charge negatively affected his career.

My first concert was the Police in 83. First gig of their Synchronicity tour in Chicago. also on the line up that day; The Fixx, A Flock of Seagulls, Simple Minds, and Joan Jet & the Blackhearts.
Sting is probably the the better lyricist, but Stewart was the better composer.

I like this song from the same era.
I always loved the Cars, Police not so much.
Elisha Otis, the founder of the Otis Elevator Company, who invented a device for keeping elevators from falling if their main cables break, was born August 3, 1811, in Halifax, Vermont.
I like The Police But never got to go to one of their concerts. I saw a Sting concert which was fun but the only Police song he played was Message in A Bottle.
