  1. People have become like dogs.

There are times that a dog does something that’s almost the level of human intelligence. You’re wowed and overwhelmed by how it could have learned the behavior. We kept my daughters’ dog for five months this year, while she was off seeing the world. Her dog came and got me one day, frantically trying to tell me something. I stood up and followed her. She led me into the bedroom and put her paw on the pair of shorts that I normally wore when we went for a walk. Smart dog. When I’m not looking, the dog eats Tootsie Rolls out of the cat’s litter box.

Somewhere somebody is nudging a friend, pointing at Earth, and telling a similar tale about us.
