Saturday Night Hootenanny

We will get to the music shortly. First we honor our second member of the Order of the Golden Emu.

Now I realize that there is some controversy but the ruling of the Court Jester is final. So let it be written, so let it be done.

So with that finished who will guess tonight’s connection? On to the music!

  1. I can’t figure out the connection, so I’ll go with my big 3 whenever I’m stumped:
    1. They’re all left handed
    2. They all have red hair
    3. They’re all Canadian

I don’t think those are right, so I bet it has something to do with roommates.

  2. All I can think of is songs that would be playing in a dorm party, in my college years —

Breakout hits? “Born to Run” and “Freebird” seem to be that…

All seem to be songs that Really Put Them On The Map.

  3. I thought that it was that someone in each group is dead: Kirk Cobain, “[Ronnie] Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gaines, assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray Jr” (article on Rolling Stones.com), Clarence Clemons, Ray Thomas of the Moody Blues, Walter Becker of Steely Dan, Jon Lord of Deep Purple,

BUT Van Morrison is alive and I’m guessing Sheryl Crowe and Shania Twain are too.

So, maybe they all covered each other’s songs?
