It is tastless, but not racist. I have seen many Condi toons that are racist (Rall), but not this one.
If this portrayed Clinton, with Gore on his finger resembling a parrot and parroting inane, mindless support, it would be fine.
Well, Condi being black does not protect her from similar ridicule. I am not aware of a common racial slur comparing black women to parrots, so this commentary is about her function in the administration, not her race.
I like Condi and I am interested to see what she can do in the position. It is a poor cartoon, I do not agree with it, but it is not racist. That term is used too often, and often it does not apply. It is just an easy thing to yell to get people to ignore the real issue.

I agree with Chris. It’s a crude caricature, but it’s not racist. Rall is consistantly racist, but he has no soul, so what do you expect?
I’ll go along with “hateful, but not racist.” The Danziger cartoon a few weeks ago was genuinely racist; Oliphant is just being vicious, uninformative, and unfunny.
I’m tempted to say that Rall’s latest ink-piddle really is racist, though. Could I say it was racist if I were a non-white Republican, and Rall was grouping me with these stereotypes? What if I were a Republican woman?
That Condi/Bush cartoon is crude and ludacris. But that republican cartoon got me to smile for the first time today.

It’s true that if Rush Limbaugh had printed that cartoon it would be classified as a racist, radical statement of the right. Because it was a left wing funny, why would we be offended?
It amazes me that so many blacks still vote for a party who wants them forever enslaved to the notion that they can only accomplish what is given to them by the government and by Democrats. Condaleeza Rice should be the role model of every woman in America. She has risen to her position and stature not because she is black or because she is a woman, but because she is one of the smartest people in the world. And our President chose her because of that. And that is the true accomplishment.

Tasteless, yes. Hateful, yes. Racist, no. I’ve been a big Condoleezza Rice fan since her days at Stanford, and I don’t like this cartoon one bit, but the exaggeration of her features isn’t anything that isn’t common in cartoons of other government officials.

Condi has been portrayed as a puppet, a parrot, etc, because she dares to break the liberal mold of what any minority should be. More power to her, and to Bush, as far as I am concerned. Same thing with Clarance Thomas, among others. Walter Williams, Ken Hamblin, etc.

I hate the KKK just as much as anyone, I had to fight against it in my own church sometimes, and I hate the Nazi’s too. I am 75% German, and my mom immigrated from there. I have heard many stories about that whole time from my grandfather.

Teen pregnancy is a problem, there are many options available to them, and I don’t think of them as sluts, either.
I made my fair share of mistakes in life, too. It saddens me how many lives are terminated for whatever reason.
I am concerned about responsibility of both the male and female in those situations.
I will never forget a couple in my old church, who waited for years to adopt a baby, and finally, after many years of waiting, finally got a son. They helped the birth mother with medical bills, and school, and everything else, to make sure she had a good chance at life. There are a lot of couples out there that would love an opportunity like that, because they could not have a child.
I know a number of people, who are decent folk, both Republican and Democrat, who do their best. This cartoon is one of the biggest piles of Barbara Streisand out there.

And to defend Rall (only this once!) I’ll note he’s taking shots at the Democrats who have come out saying they should be more like Republicans, not at Republicans. In other words, the Republicans portrayed there aren’t meant to be what they’re actually like, but what these same Democrats believed them to be like before the election. The satire here is at hypocritical Dems, not bigoted Republicans.

She’s also an excellent choice for Sec. of State, and Oliphant is a talentless hack of a DNC parrot.
My advice: Read Ann Coulter to truly appreciate the nuances of Lib parody. I find both cartoons hilarious, though not in the way the “artists” intended.
Besides, Ted Rall’s comic is so unrealistic: In the South, we never wear our KKK hoods inside a diner – that would simply be impolite. Southern Manners dictate we always remove our hats or headcoverings whenever we enter a building, especially when sitting down for a meal!

I don’t think that Oliphant intended the comic to be racist. That would be professional suicide and we all know it. However, I do think there is a degree of racism in his poor drawing that he didn’t intend to show. I think the rendering show’s oliphants own views and, while not as racist as others I’ve seen about Condi, is racist to an extent. Personally I think it’s good that African Americans are seeing this side of the liberals. I think it will open their eyes to the leftist oppression of Black people and the Black family. Too long have they been exploited by the DNC’s lapdogs Jackson and Sharton. Too long have they been the addicts of the economic crack that is the welfare system which was composed to destroy the power of the black family and thus the unity of the black people. Too long have they been denied education vouchers which would allow black children to enter competative schools rather than ghetto schools. I hope this is a wake up for the African American community and I’d be proud to support them anyway I can in the struggle to gain the liberty that is their right.
Furthermore, I think Libs hate the intelligent, accomplished, and talented Dr. Condoleezza Rice because she represnts what they fear the most. Black people from abject poverty pulling themselves up by their boots straps without need of libs to earn a place in the highest of society shattering the glass ceiling.
