I kept this quote posted on the door of my apartment in college so I could see it and read it every day before walking into the quagmire of the modern public university.
TR is not my kind of Republican. In that quote the beginning and end clauses both take a shot at the profit motive. The drive for profit is what capitalism is all about, and competition has done more to advance humanity than any other phenomenon. Plus, he is both a Teddy and a Roosevelt – with democrat names like those, you just know there’s going to be problems.
On this note… driving home from work last night, just on the border between Tempe and Mesa, there were a metric ton of campaign posters on the corner… for Previous Presidents/Presidential contenders. Elect Roosevelt, Do it with Dewey, etc. It was absolutely surreal.
