It’s been two years, so I had to retake my ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) training this morning. They have a video so old a guy was smoking a pipe while handling a circuit board; apparently that’s safe, but I don’t know about cigars or bongs. I took enough notes during it that I can probably do a “Know Thy Enemy: Electrostatic Discharge” later. I got two questions wrong on the test, though. They were the only two where I changed my answer (both from the correct one). That means I got them wrong by over-thinking; that’s the smart man’s way to get something wrong.
To get to the point, it was mentioned that cotton does not store charge and thus cotton clothing is the best thing to wear when handling electronics. Thus, if you don’t want to destroy the computer you are using right now, you must wear my shirt. And, to wear my shirt, you must buy my shirt.
That is all.

My nightie is cotton–have you considered and IMAO nightie for those of us who don’t wear tee shirts?
ok hit us… What were the 2 questions?
Now that’s odd. I think I saw the same video in my soldering class at college.
Did the guy make a lot of jokes in the video and did he tell the story of the G force equipment which had an accidental discharge and went off with scientists inside?
While smoking does not cause ESD it can ruin hard drives as well as clog up fans, and gears in the cdrom and floppy disks.
I really wonder if this is the same ESD video I’m forced to watch. I think the VHS tape is authentic 1980’s vintage. Frank, are you in the Air Force?
That video is the same one I used to have to watch in the Navy if I recall circa 1976 actually.

Frank, you got any of them T-shirts in wool? Since the temperatures have plummeted here in North Florida to 40s at night, 60s in the day, I have been forced to hover shivering under 3 comforters while being dressed in full sweats. I don’t think cotton will cut it for me until the temps are back up in the high 90s where God intended.
