This FAQ makes me sad and yet I have to laugh too.

Why do they refuse to reveal which key is the “any” key?
I think it’s one of those mysterious “F1, F2, F3” keys up there.
Can the government help by forcing them to reveal this info? Am I a victim?
What is funny about that FAQ? They are distributing valuable information.
Perhaps you are implying that you already knew that there was no “Any” key. If so, that is an affront to anyone who has been waiting patiently to press such a key, and may result in a warning for you.
Have you not been warned about this before? I will check my records and return to give you a warning, unless you have already been warned, or my anger is too great at this affrontery.
I wish I could say that I’ve never found myself in the “Duh” zone, but that would be a lie “duh”.
There are obviously many folks who had a question about this but I don’t know it that makes me feel better or worse.
Most people are not intrinsically stupid, it just cycles through the brain occasionally I think. Sort of a bug, for people instead of computers.
My hubby and I opened up a child’s toy that was ‘assembly required’ today. The following is what we found at the beginning of the directions:
Signal Word Definitions
DANGER – Indicates an imminently hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, WILL result in death or serious injury. Usage of this signal word is limited to the most extreme situation.
WARNING – Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, COULD result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION – Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, may result in minor/moderate injury or product/property damage. It also alerts against unsafe practice.
This was then followed by another half page of actual usage of above defined signal words. Did I mention we were assembling a wooden lemonade stand??
PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID! WE ARE DOOMED! RUN FOR THE HILLS! I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF JOBS THESE PEOPLE HOLD THAT ASK THIS QUESTION. THEN AGAIN MAYBE I’M BETTER OFF NOT KNOWING.
OK guy’s I work with a lot of consumer end users of computers.
I have had people call me and ask just that question.
Seriously! More than once. I’m not just kidding.
It’s usually very old people that get stuck on stuff like that. They like all the steps written out and take them literally, too literally sometimes. And yes they’ll sit there for ten minutes looking for the “any” key.
Whose kids play in dumpsters?
Everyone’s, if they happen to find one. Trash, as any kid knows, is full of all manner of cool stuff. Unfortunately, it also happens to contain the occasional sharp rusty bit of metal which cuts the hell out of you and sends you to the emergency room for a tetanus shot and maybe some stitches. It often contains rotting food debris. And, quite frequently, it’s where people who clean up after their pets have stored what they cleaned up.
But there’s an age where you really don’t care about that, because you might find BURIED PIRATE TREASURE or something.
No, seriously, I’ve heard kids propose that a dumpster placed in 1998, which has been emptied twice a week ever since, may actually contain a hidden treasure that’s been miraculously overlooked since the 16th century. Everyone should occasionally dress like a teenager and carry a skateboard around their neighborhood; the things you hear from kids when their grown-up radar isn’t tripped are simply priceless.

Well I for one learned something today. And knowing is half the battle.
Dang, this may give some credence that some people really are too stupid to mark a ballot to vote. Geeeeesh.
When literalists grows up.

“Fire at will!”
“Which one’s Will?”
🙂
I just removed the cool white sticker from my new Honda Goldwing telling me not to smoke while filling it with gas. Check…
I always cringe a little when I see dumpsters that have signs “Do not allow children to play in or around.” Whose kids play in dumpsters? Really!
LOL!
Thanks for the laugh…I now have crumbs on my screen..
