Obama No Longer Losing the Election

Though there’s a lot to laugh at about Obama’s fortunes lately, I can’t laugh too much. Obama was a completely frivolous choice by the Democrats in a time of war, and when they should be able to run away with this election they seemed set to lose it.
But now that’s changed. Obama is no longer losing as much as McCain is winning. McCain isn’t doing so well because Obama sucks (though he does suck) as much as people are looking forward to voting for him (well, vote for Palin — but she was his idea!). It’s starting to seem like if the Democrats had nominated a competent politician, McCain might still be winning.
So I can’t laugh as much at the Democrats’ silly choice, because it might not matter in the end.

  1. RATS are sooooooo lame! They have been taken over by the Pelosi/Code Pink fringe of the party and therefore chose the uber-liberal dufus senator from Ill.! He can’t talk about what he really believes because American’s would gasp in horror so he has to stammer on and on with umm this and umm that! It’s working out just as Carl Rove arranged it. Muwahahahahahahah!

  2. When this is over, the Dems will realize that they made the same mistake that they made last time.
Obama is just another Kerry. Elite, effete, snobbish, ultra-left and so on, right down to the repulsive wife spewing idiocies that further drag down the ticket.
    Will they learn from this?
Doubtful. They didn’t learn from Kerry’s loss. I doubt they’ll figure it out in time for the next go-round.

  3. McCain/Palin ’08 = Palin/Jindal ’12!
    Works for me!
Can you imagine the work that would get done with two hard working, roll up your sleeves conservatives???? I think we need to start on our members of Congress now, so they have someone to work with.

  4. Now, think back, fellow Rovians.
Step One was the elimination of Hillary Clinton on the political stage. That succeeded beyond our wildest dreams since (a) she bungled her campaign and lost; (b) she’s got so much debt (20+ million) that even a Chelsea Hollywood carreer can’t pay it off; and now, (c) Sarah Palin completely eclipses her for years to come. Ha ha, Hillary, you go girl… away!
Step Two is the elimination and drubbing of Barack Obama, supreme Democrat socialist, ultimate Chicago con artist, but nothing (really) other than a Kerry clone with skin tone – from the hood.
Step Three is the rebuilding of the Republican Party on its original ideological footings. One could argue that McCain is but a stepping stone in that process, a catalyst, as it were for someone like Palin.
(I note with emphasis that this plan was NOT the same as Limbaugh’s “Operation Chaos.” This is the original “two-for-the-price-of-one plan” many of us advocated during the primaries.)

  5. I think it’s funny because John Kerry was a terrible choice but at least he had actual experience. The truth is Obama just looks good there’s nothing else I can think of about him that’s appealing. I don’t care if you give good speeches if they are just drivel. And that’s all they are, Drivel.

  6. “And imagine if we had nominated an actual conservative! The DNC would just be miles and miles of radioactive wasteland.”
Sorry friend, but I completely disagree. The base alone wasn’t going to be enough this year.
First, if we had nominated an actual conservative it would have been much easier for the Dems to make their “more of the same” charges stick.
Second, an actual conservative wouldn’t have needed Palin’s conservatism so even if they felt compelled to go with a female would have picked one of the more conventional and less inspiring choices; KBH or CTW. Turns out Palin offers a lot more than just conservative appeal.
I hate to admit it, but for us to have a chance this year some unique things needed to happen. McCain was one and Palin the other. It’s hard to imagine us being as well off with anyone else in either of those spots.

I’ll make my argument as simple as possible.
    1980 and 1984
We had a conservative candidate to run then. We really didn’t have any available for this run. Palin works as a VP for McCain but none of us would have considered her as a candidate in her own right this time. Fred talked a good talk until he actually threw his hat into the ring but then he imploded. Newt is a good idea guy but has enough issues that he probably wouldn’t survive a campaign.
So we take McCain as the price to level up Palin enough for her to run after him in ’12 or ’16.

I think you may have misunderstood my post. I’m not saying we had a conservative available. My point was that all this talk about “appealing to the center” is just going to give us more liberalism.

  9. Even though McCain is a more liberal candidate than conservatives would prefer, the actual RNC platform moved back to the right this year. http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=28295
The Bush years have not been liberal, but they sure as hell haven’t been conservative. Bush is not the conservative that Reagan was, or maybe even his father (the elder Bush). It seemed in 2000-2004 we had liberalism on the ropes. Going down the center as we have for the last 8 years has only served to make donkeys more emboldened, and give them breath, when they should have slid into history. As a footnote.

  10. Kerry did have experience and was a Vietnam vet and at least did kill a guy, then republicans cried he shot the poor commie with the RPG in the back while he was looking for a better position to kill a dozen of our men. That poor commie was only 17 or so. Bad John Kerry. Terrible when a dem kills a commie. Kerry is a lot of things but not a coward. He’s to stupid to be scared.
Kerry was a Bad candidate and speaker. I didn’t like him but he’s better than this tool. BTW-Obama is a crappy speaker and looks bad. He even looks old in the face for 47. On his part it was smart to run this time cause he is 1. Going to get any better looking at 51. 2. We be say Uh twice as much by them. I think he is going more Senile than McCain.
