So they’re going to build a mosque right next to ground zero in New York City, I guess to celebrate the triumph of Islam over buildings. Supposedly it’s made by “moderate” Muslims, but why would moderate Muslims want to help terrorists celebrate their murders? I mean, do those funding the mosque not know that the terrorists are going to take the building of a mosque there as a triumph, or do they just not care?
I remember when the 9/11 attacks were going to change things and we were all going to be a serious people, but it didn’t take long until the usual suspects went back to not taking serious things seriously — why worry about terrorism when there is food out there being over-salted? What we should learn from the mistakes of Europe is that if you actually want to survive as a nation, at some point you have to act like you actually care.
All kidding aside, calls for revolution are losing that “empty rhetoric” feeling and taking on a serious undertone. The political class has completely sold their souls.
I’ve been calling for a crusade against terrorism. Whenever some idiot says that the crusades are offensive to muslims, I reply “Oh, that crusade? That was just an isolated incident by a handful of christian extremists. You’re obviously a racist for even trying to smear me with that old argument.”
We are repeatedly told that we have to be sensitive to the culture and traditions of Muslims. I can deal with that, as long as they do the same for us. Whatever this is, it’s certainly not sensitive to OUR culture.
I’m a little fuzzy on this “moderate Muslim” thing. Are we limiting immoderate Muslims to those who are currently wearing bomb belts?

They care. The people who fund it will celibrate this as a victory for Islam among themselves while at the same time claiming to outsiders that it is no such thing. They are two-faced liars who obviously have no shame and no respect.
Ya know, Troy and Frnak are right. NYC can’t manage to create a decent memorial almost ten years after 9/11, but hell’s bells, they can sure toss up a mosque within spitting distance of Ground Zero. Worse, Bloomberg can call it a healing process when the healing process of a memorial is still on the drawing board.
Come my way (upstate NY), and I’ll show you the most beautiful and touching memorial built on top of a mountain. It was actually built in time for the first anniversary of 9/11 . Within the memorial, there are giant granite slabs with the names of each of the fallen. The only name I can remember is the last name on the slabs –“Sirius” the rescue dog.
Islam had conquered most of Europe with a very brutal raping and pillaging campaign. The were close to finishing the job of exterminating Europe. (probably most of our ancestors) The Crusades were a counterattack to retake their lands. Of course momentum then years later after having retaken their lands continued attacking the enemy and chasing them back to their homelands.
The Crusades as bad as they were, were a very delayed counterattack that without which no-one of European descent would be alive and I dont expect the enlightenment and everything after would have happened.
The biggest difference between Christians and Muslims is Jesus.
Christians have a New Testament that says “Forgive people who sin instead of killing them.”
Muslims have no new testament.
So, a fundamentalist Christian will bless others with his property and live for Christ.
A fundamentalist Muslim does… other things.
New York has always been a screwed up city, going back to the Revolution.
We can handle one screwed up city, the trouble comes when the virus of stupid spreads. We’ve done nothing to stop it and we’ll feel the result.

A number of good blogs, none liberal, have investigated this new mosque and it’s funding. Islamists like to build mosques where thay have had victorys and were they have conquered. I am waiting for Obama to build a matching one at the Pentagon. don’t laugh.
Let’s see. Salvation Army workers working on the gulf oil spill are told to remove their identifying t-shirts by FEMA, and full support and blessings are given to a mosque at Ground Zerp. Says it all.

It is becoming increasingly clear that Muslims have not “taken any time to understand us”. I believe that’s the phrase we have been hearing on the subject of Islam since 9/11. I wonder if NYC would approve a Mr. Pig’s BBQ franchise next door to that mosque?

Remember, New Yorkers elected and then re-elected Hilary Clinton as their senator. And Ed Koch, Bloomberg and and some dofus named Dinkins as mayors. So brains aren’t a New Yorker’s strong suit. Yeah, they did elect Gulianni mayor too but that was a rare outburst of sanity they quickly corrected. So yes, they are dumb enough to allow a mosque on Ground Zero. All the smart New Yorkers are ex-New Yorkers. Like me!

I agree, EnemyoftheState, we just haven’t had a good bloodletting, mass slaughtering crusade for righthousness in way too long. And since we have Hawaii and Chicago to blame for Obama, I can’t think of a better couple of places to kick it off in!

A national study conducted by Mediacurves.com asked about American opinions regarding plans to build a mosque and Islamic community center near “Ground Zero” of the World Trade Center attacks. Results found that Republicans were the least favorable of plans to build the mosque, with the majority of Republicans (63%) reporting that it was “not at all appropriate.” Also, 37% of Democrats and 39% of Independents indicated that the plans were “not at all inappropriate.” The majority of all political parties reported that it was disrespectful to the victims of the World Trade Center attacks to build a mosque near ground zero.
