* Mitt Romney won the primary in Illinois by a decent margin and should get most of the delegates. So are we much closer to this primary finally being over? I don’t know. And yes, I am actively rooting for Romney because I just so want this primary over, and the other options aren’t good enough to justify drawing this thing out.
I honestly expected Santorum to burn out sooner like every other temporary front runner, but he keeps surprising people. He’s not going to surprise people by winning the primary, though, which is why this is all getting rather pointless.
I just want to focus on how bad Obama is? Can’t we do that soon, please?

* Paul Ryan plans to take away even more free stuff with his new budget. Democrats are going to scream about it, but of course what they aren’t going to do is propose a budget of their own. You can’t run up trillion dollar deficits if you’re actually trying to stick to a budget.
And the Democrats are going to say Paul Ryan is going to end Medicare as we know it. But the Democrats are trying to completely destroy it by doing nothing when we’re headed for disaster.
Anyway, don’t know if anything useful will happen, but at least someone is trying.
* Jim Geraghty (who I like to call “Googity” because I always have to Google how to spell his name) made a good point in his Morning Jolt newsletter yesterday (which I can’t link so I’ll link Best of the Web which mentions it) about how we have to approach the attacks on Obama. If everyone is like, “He wants to destroy America!” most voters will just roll their eyes; he’s obviously not considered that extreme by most people since he was elected president. But the attack of him being naive and in over his head is much more acceptable (and also let’s those who voted for him last time save a little face). So Obama isn’t some bad guy; he’s just someone who didn’t understand he’d get his head stuck inside that bucket.

His own communications director just went on CNN and compared Romney’s positions to an Etch-a-Sketch. Once they win the nomination they PLAN on resetting them all to be more appealing to independents and liberals. He might be sounding reasonable at the moment as he panders to the base, but he has never been a conservative and never governed like a conservative. Why should we trust him to do anything except continue the Bush/Obama borrow and spend policies? Nothing but a typical slimy politician.

I would have liked to see a Paul Ryan in this race but it looks like Romney will be the candidate. Maybe this (Romney led search for runaway teen) will help like him at a personal “good guy” level.

Well I have know for two years that romney was going to be the R nominee. He stepped aside for mcstupid, so the establishment anointed him. The gop left me long ago, and it looks like they have no desire to get real Americans back into the fold. Apparently the majority of the people of several states think communism is a good thing. Its just some like R free stuff and others like d free stuff. and they all think someone else should pay for it. So why not vote for romney, he is just as big a commie as the pos we have now, so what is the difference? The Rs are cowards and useless, the d are marxists and losers. There is no difference between them.
Face facts as a country we are done, maybe we will writhe and flop like a fish another few years before the barbarians break the gates and Rome burns, but we are done. Well, as you know I think Obama has been a super duper awesome president.
That said, I think it is going to be hard for anyone to focus on how bad (or good) Obama is if the Romney campaign keeps on doing things like creating the perfect metaphor for its candidate’s willingness to completely change his position on anything and everything in order to appeal to his current audience — see Etch-a-Sketch quote below.

I mean, you could lock David Axelrod, James Carville, Donna Brazile and Rachel Maddow in a room for 48 hours with 1/2 lb of weed, a liter of Robitussin, and gallons of coffee, and they still wouldn’t be able to come up with a more powerful and damaging symbol of Romney’s complete lack of principals and his willingness to say whatever he thinks he needs to say at that particular point to win an election.
It is so awesome! It is like the exact opposite of the “teleprompter” meme — it is actually true (Romney does say anything to get himself elected), it is simple (who does not know what a Etch-a-Sketch is?) and it is funny (Romney is like a kid’s toy!).
And because it came from Romney’s own camp, and is now being picked up by both Ricky and Newt, we know it is here to say. He can’t even run away from it!

I predicted in 2008 that saving America from obama and the demoncraps in Congress would take an act of divine intervention.
Since then, I’ve been looking for a sign that the miracle was about to happen.
The 2010 mid-terms and the rise of the TEA party movement was a pretty clear indicator that something that had seemed dead in America’s spirit had re-awakened.
For the last 2 years obama and his minions in congress, in the media, in academia and in Hollywood have been trying to kill it again, and the establishment Republicans, who have nearly as much to lose if this resurrected spirit succeeds have been trying to hold it back or at least control it.
