Look, I know Romney’s going after Obama on this “you didn’t build that” thing. It’s just that I think Paul Ryan’s got a better response:
The President recently suggested that a central government — not individuals — deserves the credit for building successful businesses. This sentiment makes for terrible economics, but also reveals a confused morality.
In a free community, everyone co-operates by voluntarily offering unique gifts: some invent, some invest, others labor, or sell while customers reward the best producers and providers by buying their products and services.
A free economy and strong communities are the best means to reward effort with justice, to promote upward mobility, and to build solidarity among citizens. The President’s vision of a government-centered society — reflected in both his troubling rhetoric and his failed policies — belittles fair rewards for labor and enterprise.
I don’t think I’ve heard Romney defend capitalism on moral grounds yet.

Remember when questioning whether or not Obama might be a socialist was labeled extremist (with the Republican establishment being the first to denounce it)?
Paul Ryan make me misty almost every time he speaks publicly . . . any chance of him being VP?
He’d make a dynamite VP. He could help swing WI to Romney too.
Capitalism doesn’t require a defense on moral grounds, much like bacon.
I’ve been pulling for Ryan as VP for quite some time. I think he’d be a terrific president in 8 or so years. He just needs a little more experience and seasoning. If not I think maybe he could take Geitner’s job. Of course a monkey with a sharp stick could do better than Obamas entire team.
Ryan’s bright and clean and articulate. However, his TV presence is a little jittery. He needs to get with someone who really knows the art of television and get coached up on the finer points of being on camera.
Doug Urbanski has said more than once that he’d LOVE to get his hands on Ryan for a few days & polish him up.
“Doug Urbanski has said more than once that he’d LOVE to get his hands on Ryan for a few days & polish him up.”
I don’t think Ryan swings that way. Not that there’s anything wrong with it…
Can we please stop with the unproductive Romney-whining? If you actually hear his latest speeches, there is a new edge there, and it’s not just because Romney smells blood, but that anyone who works extremely hard, like Romney always has, will take Obama’s comments… kinda personal, as we say in the South.
And I also love what Ryan is doing, which is why he shouldn’t go anywhere until he has a fantastic successor lined up. From what I hear, the GOP establishment is just in the last year swinging around to the Road Map instead of trying to hide from it. Ryan needs to man his station until more of his ideas are starting to be implemented.
deitiphobe1 – All whining aside, there are still only 2 reasons I’ll be voting for Romney:
1) He’s not Obama.
2) He has important-looking hair.
