[High Praise! to American Digest]
[via The Guardian]
Yeah, a rainbow-colored, 2-inch-long perch.
Our first Gay President is now our first Piscene-American President.
Of course, a REAL president would get his name attached to something a little more impressive, like:
Now that the perch has a drone, Nemo remains in hiding.
If it didn’t already have a name, this fish deserves the name far more than that innocent perch: candiru
Rots from the head…
… no doubt a bottom feeder …
touch to catch, though: always avoiding de-bait.
“Carp: definition: to find fault or complain querulously or unreasonably.”
There was already a fish named after Obama.
Hah! Take THAT Carter!
And how about naming a Michellefish?
I know its father met its mother but once, and then only briefly. But does it also suck scum? If not, then I’m afraid the fish has been unfairly named.

And, in other science news:
Paragordius Obamai
Hairworm biodiversity survey | January 2013
The discovery of a new hairworm species–Paragordius obamai
” . . The project involved the collection of snails that serve as intermediate hosts for the human parasite Schistosoma mansoni.”
” . . .Hairworms use insects such as crickets as hosts and can also use snails as intermediate hosts. . . .”
“Since the initial discovery of the new hairworm species, this remote part of Kenya has gained international attention. Just 19 kilometers (11 miles) to the northwest of Kasabong stream sits the town of Kogelo, where President Barack H. Obama’s father was born and paternal step-grandmother resides. The town contains the Senator Barack Obama Primary and Secondary Schools (Figure 4). Hanelt, Bolek, and Schmidt-Rhaesa decided to name this new and unique species in honor of the 44th president of the United States—Paragordius obamai.”
