Not sure I believe all this – AVERAGE education is 20 years? More than half of Americans have a PhD? Really?

Also, that “teen birth rate” thing is a bit deceiving. It used to be those teens were married. Out of wedlock births would be more instructive, and that’s not a pretty picture.

Nevertheless, I believe life is getting better, in general, for most people, compared to the lives their parents lived. We’re awash in an embarrassment of luxuries that we take for granted.

Well, SOME people take them for granted. I lived on a ship for 4 years. I adore and cherish every luxury I have.
