“On YouTube there are many (130?) episodes of the 1957-59 TV show “Silent Service.” It’s mostly about WWII submarines, but there are at least two episodes from events in the 1950s.”

One of the best TV shows ever made! We used to get it on Armed Forces Radio and Television Service when I was stationed on Okinawa. It gave us “Zoomies” a greater
appreciation of the Squids we used to see at the commissary….. Fine Job boys!
Speaking of “Star Trek,” both Leonard Nimoy (almost unrecognizable as a sonar tech) and Deforest Kelly (as a sub commander) are seen in episodes of “Silent Service.”
And I was wrong on the count, the playlist is 130 items long, but some episodes appear twice.
Bonus: one post-war episode, “The Seadevil Attacks Puget Sound,” shows how to blow up a major city with a submarine without using missiles.
Oops—“(USS) Sea Devil” (two words) is the correct spelling. I timed out on editing; I apologize to the squids.
I’d never heard of this show. I do remember the computer game from the 80s called Silent Service
