    • Was it Stalin or Lenin who put the more productive farmers in jail? If it was Lenin, then the answer would have to be that a lot of dogs (and cats and rats) were eaten during Lenin’s rule (due to collectivization) and Stalin’s rule due his buddy Hitler’s laying seige to Leningrad for 900 days. (Yes, that is a nine. At one point Leningrad was supplied only across a frozen lake.)
