In order to control the flow of the conversation, you need a flow nozzle.
So apparently some media outlet has made a new version of the The Handmaid’s Tale. This apparently has upset a lot of the snowflakes. Not that they made a new version, that isn’t what has them all a flutter, no. What seems to have them all worked up is how close they think we are to the tale becoming reality.
For those of you unfamiliar with the story allow me to grossly oversimplify it for you… Some number of months in the future some group of people who figure out these kinds of things figures out that the birth rate is too low and ‘our way of life’ is at risk. To solve the problem the religious nuts get together with the political nuts and they remove a bunch of laws and change a bunch of religious dogma so that women become nothing more than baby-factories with no rights of their own. Like Orwell’s 1984 it is supposed to be a cautionary tale, not some kind of instruction manual.
I haven’t seen the new version making the rounds but if my facebook feed is any indication the leftist snowflakes just can’t contain themselves and are squee-ing with glee at the parallels to some modern political and religious nuts while simultaneously crapping their plaid onesies because they are realizing that they have spent the last couple of decades setting up the politicians and religious nuts to maybe be able to do what they are seeing in the show.
The leftist snowflakes are beginning to realize they have spent the past eight years giving ever more and ever greater power to the politicians with the thinking that ‘their guy’ is always the one that is going to have that power. Now that ‘the other guy’ is sitting in the big chair they are all squirming uncomfortably because they are beginning to understand what most of the rest of us have understood for a long time…. never trust a politician.
What makes them even more uncomfortable is the slow realization that if the situation starts down the path of becoming like the Handmaid’s Tale they won’t be able to do anything about it because they have spent the last several decades trying to get rid of all the guns. If the political nuts get together with the religious nuts the leftists are going to have to ask the very people they have been yelling and screaming at, calling deplorable, calling privileged, they are going to have to ask us to protect them, they are going to have to ask us to start shooting people to save them.
The discomfort of the left while watching this new version of an ok book is wonderfully delicious.
Also…. Cherry Poptart is a good band name. A good stripper name too.
