One Year Later, Finally Dragged Kicking and Screaming Into Doing One Thing That’s Not Horrible

Congressional Republicans have seen a bounce in their polls against Democrats after passing tax cuts last month

  1. A bit of a serious aside on these “generic” ballot polls. They are not district specific. So when they talk about a Democratic edge of +5 or whatever that doesn’t mean every district leans +5 to the Democrats. I saw it pointed out that a lot of seeming Democrat support may be showing up because of what is happening in Democrat strongholds like cities. The fact that in November it may only translate into some Democrat wins his district with 95% of the vote rather than 90% or that they get more overall votes it does not necessarily mean some swing district in Wisconsin is going to turn blue. There are still problems facing the Republicans this voting season but it may turn out like Clinton winning the popular vote but still losing the race.

    • Clinton did not win the popular vote.
Clinton won only 48% of the vote compared to Trump’s 46% of the vote, but Trump won the electoral vote and thus the presidency. Libertarian Gary Johnson won 3.3% of the popular vote
