Wednesday Night Open Thread

I suppose I’m on a diet. The doctor told me to lose weight. So, I’m losing weight. I’m eating a little different. But I’m not doing that no-carb or low-carb thing. I eat carbs. Just not as many.

I hate dieting.

  1. Hurricane Florence update: Not all the schools affected by the hurricane are back, but all the counties have re-started. Jones County schools went back on October 16 and Duplin County schools and Onslow County schools went back on the 24th (yesterday). Jones and Onslow had buildings damaged by flooding; Jones abandoned two schools (one of which has a replacement already a-building). Onslow had schools that lost roofs. Jones County split the students from one elementary school to go to two other elementary schools, and the middle school is going to the high school.

Students at 24 Onslow County schools will also head back to class today. Students at six more schools are scheduled to go back to class on November 1 while the remaining seven schools re-open on November 5.

Officials with Onslow County schools estimate that Hurricane Florence damage will top $125 million.

Many school districts are re-working their academic calendar for this school year to try and make up for the lost time.
