Hunger strikes are supposed to protest injustices done to you, not injustices you yourself are committing.
You can just as easily not eat back home as you can here.
I went to Paris once and decided not to eat snails. Or a lot of other things. To make a long story short, they didn’t give me citizenship.
What’s the logic — we’ll deport people if they eat? Figures they’d blame it on the chews.
How do we know they weren’t just offered some Taco Bell, and said “I’d rather have nothing”?
So, when I was told by my Mexican friends nothing is better than Taco Bell, I may have misunderstood what they meant?
