Wednesday Night Open Thread

While I’m not a fan of country music, I did hear a lot of it growing up. Some of it I still listen to, having it on my playlists. Such as this one by everyone favorite sausage maker.

These Programs Never Fail

Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren tweeted criticism of President Trump’s tweet about Ilhan Omar, saying he “is trying to incite violence“.

I’ll suggest the obvious solution to all this violence: a tweet-buyback program.

AOC’s Green New Deal Movie Hailed As “Chilling, Dystopian Masterpiece”

Emitters will be thrown into the Pit of Heads!

NEW YORK CITY (AP) – With her ground-breaking 7-minute film now available online, Democrat Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is already generating Oscar buzz for her work, which is set in a future world where Green New Deal legislation was actually passed into law in 2021. Critics are hailing “A Message From the Future” as a “chilling, dystopian, masterpiece.”

Rotten Tomatoes said, “It opens with a lone figure dressed in white riding alone in a bullet train. It looks like Lily Munster, but the calming, nasally Bronx accent quickly assures us that it’s AOC. Why is she alone? Why are there no protesters in front of the Capitol Building? There are ALWAYS protesters in front of the Capitol building! Is protesting even allowed in the future? Later in the film, we see a lot of disembodied heads surrounding words in blood-red suggesting that “emissions” (the emitting of opposing views, perhaps?) be “cut in half”. AOC doesn’t waste time getting dark and creepy.”

IMDB’s review notes, “Iliana, the secondary protagonist, unable to get a good paying job in the fossil fuels industry, is forced to work in an alligator-infested swamp planting mangrove trees. Later, we see her working as a nanny. Did a brush with malaria destroy her hopes and dreams, leaving her crippled and physically unable to do manual labor? The narrator says it’s OK because her new job is “low carbon”. I guess if she were “high carbon,” she’d get to dress in white and ride alone in her private bullet train car.”

Even Roger Ebert was a little shaken. “Definitely not a kid’s movie. Just to prove what happens to “emitters”, the Democrats in charge of all three branches of government (after being swept in during the 2020 elections) completely ignore a devastating hurricane that destroys Miami. If you thought New Orleans was tragic, you will weep as 20-story buildings are swept out to sea while a Democrat President’s FEMA minions stand idly by, doing nothing to relieve Miami’s cries of despair. And I don’t want to spoil the ending for you, but that last frame where all the buildings are slowly being taken over by encroaching foliage… I can’t imagine a darker vision for America’s future. Look out, Stephen King, AOC is a horror prodigy!”

AOC said she’s already working on a sequel, tentatively titled “Soylent Green New Deal”.

Trump Truths: Prize

President Trump deserves a Nobel Peace Prize, since he posted a video unflattering to Muslims, yet not a single American ambassador died because of it.

Sufferin’ USA (Song Parody)

[High Praise! to Oppo]

Sufferin’ USA (to the tune of “Surfin’ USA” by The Beach Boys)

If everybody had odd notions
Across the U.S.A.
Then everybody’d be sufferin’
Like California
You’d seem ’em banning their Baggies
Sriracha, candles too
Bushes, bullets, blonde hairdos
Sufferin’ U.S.A.

You’d have ’em sufferin’ at WalMart
In the check-out line
Santa Claus would be verboten
As well as Valentines
All over Manhattan
— What did I just say?

They’re already sufferin’
Sufferin’ U.S.A.

We’ll all be planning lawsuits
We’ll all be plaintiffs soon
Our movement’s waxing and whining
We’ll tax texting in June
We’ll all be goin’ for the jugular
And what’s unsafe we will say
Bug or feature, we’re sufferin’
Sufferin’ U.S.A.

Häagen-Dazs and Huggies,
Pacifiers, Air!
Sombreros and Snuggies
Except the ones we wear
All of your household trash
Even succotash

Everybody’ll be sufferin’
Sufferin’ U.S.A.

Random Thoughts: Episode IX and Charity

Scar sounds like a populist in the Lion King trailer.

Also, is the Lion King remake considered a “live action” movie? Looks like the whole thing is just really good CGI.

The Eric Swalwell candidacy seems pretty pointless. The only people who vote solely on the issue of gun control are gun owners.

I’m a big believer in science, but if they photograph the black hole, they could steal its soul.

Are they trying to imply the anti-Semite is a terrorist sympathizer?

All the politicians are so awful, you really have to work hard to distinguish yourself.

All 30 seasons of The Simpsons on Disney+ is a nice cherry on top, though it would be better if it were just 10 seasons.

“We’ve had some thoughts on how to improve Star Wars. One: Rose needs to be louder, angrier and have access to a time machine. Two: Whenever Rose is not on screen, all the other characters should be asking, ‘Where’s Rose?'”

Star Wars Episode IX: The Force Woke

I read this book Heads You Lose where two authors alternated writing chapters and kept stepping on each other’s plot points and undoing dramatic things in the previous chapter. That’s what the current Star Wars trilogy reminds me of.

Yes, I’m excited for the new Star Wars movie because I’m a SAP.

About the only time politicians are speaking the truth is when they’re calling each other awful.

The last political violence we had was Republicans being shot at on a ball field. Did we stop the dangerous criticisms that caused that?

They turned A Song of Ice and Fire into a TV series?

Today at a restaurant, I saw an African American man wearing a baseball cap with the Confederate flag and the word “REBEL” on the front. I’m probably too much of a Yankee to know what to make of that.

I assumed Tiger Woods always won the Masters — whatever exactly that is — since he’s the only golfer I know the name of.

“Here it is—the final Game of Thrones!”

Bernie Sanders defending getting rich from writing a book is just a reminder that, despite what people say, no one is actually against Capitalism.

Agreeing with Cher is an incitement to violence.

Oh, everyone is celebrating how Tiger Woods hit some ball into a hole while all our real problems go ignored. Like I guess Half Life 3 is never coming out and no one seems to want to do anything about it.

Like I guess Valve makes too much money selling other people’s games to even bother making a sequel to one of the greatest games of all time. Now that’s a failure of Capitalism.

We’ve seen this a number of times when people talk a good game about caring for the poor — Al Gore, Barack Obama, Bernie Sanders — but when you judge them by their actions, i.e., giving away their own money, they’re more “meh” about the poor.
It should be expected, as advocating for more government programs is actually the opposite of caring for the poor. It’s specifically saying “I want someone else to care about the poor so I can focus on my own things.”
We should be wise to this by now. These people don’t care. They want to spend other people’s money and be praised as caring for doing that, but deep down they only care about themselves and the power they get from looking like they’re doing things.

There’s going to be an extra long DuckTales Saturday to give it time to go over the Mueller report.

If history teaches us one thing, it’s that there once was something called the “Roman Empire.” But most people think history teaches us more than one thing.

Hello, Twitter. I would like to follow the topic on how Jack Dorsey is ruining Twitter.

They all obviously think late-term abortions are horrific and just lack the moral courage to state it. If they thought there was nothing wrong with them, they wouldn’t be so weaselly.
In their defense, who honestly expects moral courage from a politician?

They Were Not Careful What They Wished for

President Trump has floated the idea of taking illegal immigrants and dropping them off in places that have declared themselves “Sanctuary Cities.

Of course, then you’d need sanctuary cities for all the citizens fleeing from sanctuary cities.
