Peter Gabriel has had some big hits, but I was never a fan of many of them. Okay, any of them. Again, not saying he isn’t talented, it’s just that his music isn’t for me.
What’s been on your mind? Got something you’d like to share? A topic to discuss? It’s Thursday Night Open Thread.
Who wants to start?

Biggest hits weren’t for me either. But loved: „Biko“, „Games without Frontiers“, „Salsbury Hill“ also solid.
I’m with you. A very good friend in college said, “If you like John Lennon, you’ve got to listen to Peter Gabriel.” I did not invest the time then. From the songs you’ve mentioned that I have heard, I do not feel I missed lots. Catchy. But kitschy.
“But you can’t judge someone just by their pop hits.”
But there has to be a catalyst.
“But what if his whole body of work is tremendous?”
I’ll never know: if I didn’t have the energy to invest then, I won’t now.
I was never a John Lennon fan but always liked Peter Gabriel a lot. Even the early Genesis stuff.
I was just telling my son the other day when I talked to my friends about the songs I had to describe the album cover because he never named them until much later.
Sledgehammer and Big Time didnt do much for me. Maybe because i didn’t like the videos for them.
Sledgehammer so much better as music itself, not a video – man did you nail that.
You bet your life………………..

I introduced “Shock the Monkey” to my kids. They found it funny.
