Saturday Night Hootenanny

First off we have two new members of the Order of the Golden Emu to acknowledge. While neither phrased it quite as I imagined it we are in a holiday mood so Merry Christmas.

The answer was, of course, singers who had acting careers. (Not one offs, cameos or playing themselves) Our proud new members of the order who can boldly add the “OGE” to their names.

Bob B and Rihar

Congratulations gentlemen.

No real question for tonight but our theme is…

This one is for you Basil.

To the music!

  1. Did you ever hear the story about Roy Rogers’s new boots? Roy bought a fine new pair of boots, but on the way home, a big mountain lion jumped on him. He managed to get away, but (Heavens to Murgatroyd!) the lion ate up Roy’s new boots.
When Roy got back to the ranch-house, he got up a party to go hunt the lion. But he cautioned them, “Don’t just shoot any lion you see. Ask me first, and I’ll tell you if it’s the one lion we’re after.”
They rode along awhile, and suddenly one of the posse spotted a lion. He yelled out, ♪ “Pardon me Roy — is that the cat that chewed the new shoes?”♪

(Lord, I apologize for that joke there.)

  2. A priest, a minister & a rabbi are walking down the street around lunchtime. Rabbi sez, let’s duck into the deli for a bite. The other two say nope, not in the mood for brisket today. The minister sez how ‘ bout the McDonald’s across the street. The other two say no, fast food is so boring … Finally the priest sez let’s try the new place on the next block, they serve up little fried birds with a side of monkey meat. And the other two guys say EEWWW, why would we wanna go there?! And the priest sez: “‘Cause it’s the only place in town where ya can get finch & chimps!”
