Continuing the musical theme I was thinking about sad songs because sad songs say so much. [So turn them on, turn ’em on…] Are my platforms properly sequined? (Ok enough with Elton John already. The point and question I was getting to was who do you think can sing a sad the saddest? I always found that Emmylou Harris could really bring a tear to my eye when she sings about loss and regret. For example there is this cover of a Bruce Springsteen song that I find particularly evocative in a way that the Boss only hints at.

Still begs the question why 2 videos in a post goes to moderation without an “Awaiting moderation” alert on site.
Loretta Lynn might be right. Country music is dead. They might call the music they play today “country”, but it’s really just an intergalactic bug in an Edgar suit. Thanks for the reminder of good country sounds. I have to say I am surprised how much The Dixie Chick’s Travelling Soldier sounds so much like Red Dirt Girl. That song gets my vote.
I generally liked the Dixie Chicks, until they decided to go all in on insulting America overseas.

Saddest movie ever? The Broken Circle Breakdown, a Belgian film that features a lot of bluegrass music, and tons of tragedy. They nail the music, the movie nails you.
