Hey! Danone! Leave Those Cows Alone!

French Dairy Giant Considers Cow Masking to Tackle Methane Emissions
Breitbart | 01-18-2023 | Simon Kent

French dairy giant Danone said Tuesday it wants to slash methane emissions by 30 percent within seven years, pointing to the way the cows it uses are raised, handled, and milked as ripe for change.

AFP reports Danone said it would seek the cuts by 2030 using cow breeds that emit less methane, improving cow diets, prolonging their milking periods and capturing emissions from manure to be used for biogas, for example.

The company is also looking at innovative solutions to help reduce emissions including a cow mask that can trap burp gases, the report continues.

  1. How long do these masks take to get filled to capacity?
  2. How are they emptied?
  3. Why am I asking you?

  1. And yet one volcanic eruption can put more greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere than all of the cows that ever lived. How about masks for every volcano? Maybe cutting the size of the virgins we throw in them would help.

  2. I have long held a theory that someday we will see the widespread (he he) usage of methane capturing canisters, to be worn all the time. I’m just hoping they come up with a better way of making the connection to the body than what first comes to my mind. Let’s not let Booty-Gag on the commitee for this one.

  3. Methane dissipates after 10 years. The methane produced by cows today are simply replacing the methane produced by cows 10 years ago. As long as the herd sizes are not increasing dramatically every year (herd sizes have been steadily decreasing since 1978), then this is a steady state system and of no concern. Cow burp masks are therefor only valuable for their humorous potential. I hope they are shaped like batman masks.

    • A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.

In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That’s why you always feel smarter after a few beers.
