Since I’ve been given permission to continue with my pro-Trump crusade, I am going to continue doing so.
Because the alternative is horrendous.
I actually watched Hillary Clinton’s speech the other night. As speeches go, it was bad. But I kept an open mind. My open mind told me to batten down hatches and dive dive dive. It was horrible.
Look, you can’t always get what you want, as the song goes. But sometimes, you get what you need.
I am not gonna ask people to fall in love with Donald Trump, nor do I give crap if they do.
But what is at stake here? Hillary Clinton as president.
That means open borders, pay to play at the presidential level, full blown corruption in government instead of the pussy-footing around it. And most of all it means leftist activist judges on the Supreme Court.
Really, are you willing to basically toss our Republic into a trash can because of your pride? Because you “just can’t get behind Trump because he said this thing I don’t like”?

Who the hell should be excited about a candidate in the first place? I’ve read the Constitution. It says nothing about being excited about a candidate. All I know is, if Hillary wins, she will sell us out like we’re some crap from the 80s she found in her basement and it’s Yard Sale time.

Living in deep red Texas I’ve been doing to protest libertarian vote at the top of the ticket for a long time. Last time I voted for the rethuglican presidential candidate was 1984. Trump, I think, is less bad than Romney, McCain, Dole, and everyone named Bush. If I can’t hold my nose and vote for the rethuglican once every 30 years then why do I bother to vote in their primary? As of today, I’m leaning Trump.

Look, to all #NeverTrump-ers: Trump won fair and square. Your choice didn’t. I admire Jeff Sessions more than just about anyone in Congress and recognized something in Trump early on and I respect his evaluation. Is is globalism that the nevertrumpers are most upset about? Trump wants FAIR and free trade. What’s so bad about that? For me it’s the SCOTUS. Nothing else matters. NOTHING !

The alternative to a Democrat is a person who was a Democrat until last year?
What we need is a person who will roll back the power of the federal government. Trump’s given no indication that he’ll do that, because he’s given no indication what he’ll actually do; just about every policy he’s proposed, he’s contradicted later.
Would you be any different if it were Bernie “Make America Venezuela” Sanders, Elizabeth “You didn’t build that” Warren, or Jessie Jackson? If so, why? If not, why should I give Trump any more support than I gave Romney or McCain?
Trump declared his support for bringing in “high-skilled” immigrants at the same time his website declared his support for the Sessions plan. Trump has shown no signs of avoiding corruption, although admittedly most of the other corrupt Washingtonians would oppose him (at least at first). Finally, Trump has shown no sign of understanding how to avoid “leftist activist judges”. I believe he’ll end up winning, and then he’ll nominate activist judges. If we’re lucky, those activist judges will be (and stay) reflexively anti-leftist, so the court won’t be predictable.
I don’t believe Trump will pull our Republic out of the trash can it’s already in.
Trump’s said many things I like. He’s also contradicted those things, sometimes before, sometimes after he said the ones I liked.
I understand that many #NeverTrumper-ers were Romney supporters; I suspect the hashtag was started by Rubio/Bush supporters, but I’m to lazy to check. However, there’s a nontrivial contingent of Trump-opposing Republicans (and former Republicans) who also opposed Romney, because we believed that he was going to continue the same sort of Democrat-lite policies enacted by George W. Bush.
So, because you were duped into supporting someone who wouldn’t have advanced your interests or ideology, I should also be duped into supporting someone who won’t advance my interests or ideology?

I watched Hillary’s speech. I was thinking that I was liking it until I realized that I was just relieved that Chelsea had stopped talking.
I was hating Trump before all the cool kids started it. Heck, I even hated him worse than I hated Omarosa Manigault. However, in this election he appears to be the only viable option.
So back to my standard voting procedure. Instead of voting for a candidate, I will vote against the biggest threat to my country’s welfare.

I’m going to vote for Trump if for no other reason than to see if all the wealthy Hollywood Limousine Liberals who have given their solemn oath to leave this country will actually decamp the US and go to Canada as they have promised. I’m pretty sure that already happened, it’s just way worse now and Obama “won” twice because of it, IF Hillary “wins”, it’s safe to assume that the whole “democracy” thing is over and that’s been the plan for 40+ years.

I cursed the Republican Party and voted for McCain. After 8 years I’m not convinced he would have been any better than 0.

I honestly don’t know what to expect from Trump, I know it won’t be much of anything he’s selling.
I KNOW what to expect from Hillary. Sure Trump has talked mean about going after the press, but Hillary has come right out against the first and second amendments. She is promising to do more than 0bama as far as executive overreach. She has promised to nominate progressive (left of Ginsburg) judges. and yes pay for play, and using the government as a weapon against her enemies are both things she has done all along. She has a record that anyone can see, and there is no reason to believe that she won’t try to do everything she has promised.
The biggest plus that I see for the Donald is that the Press will fulfill their obligation and watch him like the hawk they should be. Under a Hillary presidency, I would anticipate a continued blindness.
I have to vote for him because it will stick a finger in the eye of those whose eyes desperately need a finger stickin’. But I’m not happy about it.

That is an utterly false statement. There is a reason why, when addressing what I perceive to be an overwhelmingly anti-Trump audience, that instead of discussing what I like about Trump (which would be immediately disregarded by such an audience who has already made up their minds that Trump will not follow his own platform), that I go straight to the two things they can’t really argue against or ignore: that Hillary is far worse, and that Hillary will appoint ultra-leftist judges.
But explaining why Trump is the better candidate is easy. I like his aversion to PC language. I have come to like his directness and, yes, “brashness”. I like that he takes the media head-on and calls them out for what they are: dishonest.
I like his “America First” focus on all policy. I like his stances on trade and his focus on the reasons why and how trade has decimated US manufacturing. I like how he says that government doesn’t create jobs, but simply needs to get out of the way through lowering taxes and deregulation. I like that he wants to actually secure our border and enforce immigration laws.
I like that he realizes that current levels of immigration in a stagnant economy without enough jobs for the people already here is a huge problem.
I like that he recognizes that Islamic terrorism is a serious problem and just letting questionable people into our country as we have been doing is foolish and needs to be halted.
I like that he is a results-driven person, not a process wonk like D.C. bureaucrats. I like that he feels the US should be more flexible and less predictable when it comes to dealing with our enemies.
I like that he is not a part of the political elite class. I like the line up of people he has waiting in the wings to serve as advisers…actual experts in their fields and not recycled D.C. wonks. I like his attitude about diplomacy and not getting involved in military adventures.
I like his stance on NATO, that all members need to pay up as required. I like that he pointed out how out-of-date NATO is, still being in a Cold War stance.
Most of all, I like the fact that the more I pay attention to him, the more I like the guy, which is directly the opposite of what happened when I was following Cruz.
I could keep going, but what’s the point? You’ve already decided he is “evil”, “a liar”, “a Democrat”, “dangerous”, etc. You’ve already decided that everyone else is “stupid” or “sheep” and you are so “smart”, and that you have a moral imperative to insult everyone else who you do not agree with.
So because of that, I’ll just have to settle with the argument that “Hillary is worse” and “SCOTUS”.

I started drafting a response to this, about why each of those points you make is unequivocally wrong (and they are; and we all have whiplash trying to keep up with what this guy stands for) – but it occurred to me that it probably doesn’t matter to you, because your overarching concern seems to be “Anything But Hillary.”
Which, OK – we’ll agree to disagree there, but it does leave me with the question: what, hypothetically, would Donald have to do for you to NOT support him? I’ve asked that of a lot of Trump Supporters and they tend to hem and haw their answer (or go straight to the absurd). Seriously, contemplate it.
If we discovered he was in Putin’s pocket, would you stop supporting him?
If we discovered that he was going to use the Presidency to enrich himself, would you stop supporting him?
If we discovered that he killed an underage prostitute and covered it up, would you stop supporting him?

Would you like me to list the reasons I won’t vote for Hillary as well? I mean, I guess I can – but they’re fairly obvious. If you understand the reasons I’m against Trump (ie. I don’t vote for liberal Democrat big government authoritarians), you can pretty much apply them to Hillary. They’re effectively the same candidate.
The sad reality is that we’re in a position where, wherever you turn, you have to say, “I support this utterly despicable human being to be my President.” Trump, Clinton, Johnson – it applies to all of them.
Well, I don’t support that. So, none of them will get my vote. It’s that simple.
