Be Afraid, the Stupid it Burns!

I couldn’t decide which group this should be in. Then I decided why not both? So in case you missed this.

Now first off I want to apologize to anyone who served this country with distinction and dedication. I salute your service. But if you don’t read this and cry you are braver than I.

Navy task force recommends pledge to respect ‘intersectional identities’ in attempt to combat all forms of discrimination

Now personally I want, in the immortal words of Saint Rushbo (PBUH), a military that can break things and kill people. I don’t think that is the mission any more.

“I pledge to advocate for and acknowledge all lived experiences and intersectional identities of every Sailor in the Navy,” the proposed pledge reads. “I pledge to engage in ongoing self-reflection, education and knowledge sharing to better myself and my communities. I pledge to be an example in establishing healthy, inclusive and team-oriented environments. I pledge to constructively share all experiences and information gained from activities above to inform the development of Navywide reforms.”

You just know that Xi and Vlad are just quaking in their boots.

Can it get worse. Checks magic 8 ball. Yes, yes it can.

“At the command level, we need to: a. Start a dialogue with your superiors, peers and teams and listen to their personal stories and experiences. If we have not directly experienced racism, sexism, ageism, or other forms of discrimination, it is often difficult to realize they exist,” the report said. “However, they do exist in our Navy and country, and it is our responsibility to eliminate them. b. Keep the conversation going. Practice inclusion every day by integrating Sailor and civilian perspectives in early stages of problem-solving and idea generation. In each meeting you have and problem you tackle, include all perspectives to gather varied points of view that will help you make the best decision.”

Sticks and stones may break bones by names will really, really hurt you.

The task force also tackled issues relating to the treatment of gender minorities, updating ship and street names on installations, and countering hate speech.

What happens when the military stops meeting it’s recruitment targets. Just asking. For a country.

Be Afraid!

Happy Friday all and welcome to the first installment of “Be Afraid!” where we will take a look at some small news item that you should mark well because, it can happen here!

While this story comes to us courtesy of the UK I am sure our leaders are up to challenge of keeping up.

UK Government May Only Let People Out ONCE A WEEK

And no talking in supermarkets

Some of the juicy bits.

Claiming that the National Health service is at breaking point, the government is said to be considering implementing stricter rules, including  compulsory mask-wearing outdoors, and banning so called ‘extended bubbles’, where people are allowed to meet one person from another household.

Most chilling, however, is the revelation that cabinet ministers have privately debated preventing people from talking to each other in the street and in supermarkets, and even preventing people from leaving home more than once per week, and introducing curfews.

Oh, it gets better…

The source added that the government is discussing “making sure people aren’t using their own creativeness to interpret the rules how they want to.”

The report suggests that enforcement of the rules will be upped even more, with on the spot fines, potentially being upped from £200 to £500.

Can’t wait for something similar to happen here. You know our new overlords just would love to make some money and keep the peasants in their place.

Things are really starting to go crazy these days. It hardly seems possible to stay ahead of it. By the time this comes up on Friday (preloading posts is tight!) this may be outdated.

We will try our best.

Thought for the day.

William: ‘I’m sure we can all pull together, sir.’

Vetinari: ‘Oh, I do hope not. Pulling together is the aim of despotism and tyranny. Free men pull in all kinds of directions.’
