It had better happen. If not, I guess I’ll be heading down to to the local collective to register as an enemy of the state. Or for some chickens and a tractor.I’m not sure yet
I’m only 50 and I see the relevance. Too bad they don’t teach American History in school anymore. Dewey Wins was probably the biggest gaffe in politics before ol’ Hairplugs came around.
I’m sure the New York Slimes already has that edition printed. I’m 42 and I got that one right away, but then again, I went to school in an era before all the socialists took over and began erasing parts of history that didn’t fit the “P.C. approved agenda” (and we still recited the pledge of allegiance every morning). Do kids even know what the pledge of allegiance (to the United States, not to the socialist agenda) is anymore?
you just need to have seen cheers to at least recognize that’s an iconic photo
personally, i think it a little unlikely though — i have recently gone back to look at the old polls from 2004, and in the last two weeks there was a 1/2/3 pt margin going either way — there was nothing like the margins we’re seeing now going against mccain — is that because the media is trying to quash conservative votes by making it look like there is no point in voting? i don’t think they have figured out what to do with cell phones, or the short attention span of the newer generations of voters — and i don’t trust polls that aren’t battleground state specific — who cares if obama wins new york, california, and illinois 99% to 1%
they do have that excuse for their polls, that you know they are dying to use, that the dreaded “bradley effect” exists, and that if we don’t elect obama it can only mean we are closet racists
real clear politics has the best polling summaries i’ve seen, but if you spend too much time there, it will drive you crazy
The readers here at IMAO my be young but they are politically and historically more savey then most young skulls full of mush.
There are a cadre of us “elders” here as well to impart our wisdom and the occasional “boot the head” if necessary. That last is my favorite part. I love to play “kick the troll”.
By the by where are the little darlings, at a “Send Cindy to Congress (we don’t want her here) rally?
I like how that story identifies Lincoln as a Democrat lol. I could totally see them changing our history books to reflect that. The plain and simple truth is that the slaves were set free by a republican and he’s the one that started the steps towards equality. It didn’t happen until long after that of course but the point is our country is so warped that this parody could be accepted as reality…..How sad the liberal left is becoming.
As a matter of fact I remember about 5-6 years ago when I’d come to this site Liberals were actually kind of funny with their stupidity. It’s changed from funny to sad in that amount of time……
Ummmmmm – no. As much as I wish it would happen, it ain’t. McCain identified himself too much with the bailout to stay alive politically. The creep got nominated by the Republican party and now we’re going to be creamed by a man whose entire qualification to be president is, and I quote, “He ran a good campaign”. In 4 years, when Palin rips Obama’s head off during the debates and uses it to play baseball, I’ll be cheering along with the rest of the country. America has never had a truly Liberal-with-a-capital-L president before and we’re not going to re-elect one in 2012. McCain doesn’t need a Dewey Moment so much as a Fire From On High Moment.
Ayup, cptmoroni, I’m afraid you’re probably right. Let’s hope that we’re still allowed to vote Hussein Obama out of office in 2012, instead of having to man the barricades. Then again, I have all of these Constitutionally protected means of self-defense at home, and, being a part of the Founder’s intent of a well-regulated militia, wouldn’t mind getting a few hippies in my sights. And punching a bunch of capital-L liberals in their monkey faces. Heck, they all think we’re a bunch of Neanderthals anyway, so we might as well have some fun while we’re at it.
McCain looks pretty good in Harry Truman’s suit, though. (Has anyone pointed out to the current gang of Democrats that HST would have been considered a conservative by their standards? And what was that A-bomb thing all about? Korea? Oh, my gosh, he was a mass-murdering, racist war-mongering fascist! He even looked a little like George Bush! Karl Rove went back in time and influenced Harry Truman to be a secret Republican! It IS a vast, right-wing conspiracy!)
Oops, sorry… that’s what happens when I get my lunch late. I’m going back to my classroom and have the kids make up some Vote For Dewey signs. it’s all the rage now, politicizing the young and easily influenced.
I’m getting a sinking feeling from this thread that everyone has given up and resigned themselves to 4 years of OBiden in charge. Does this mean that none of you are going to bother voting? That you think it’s over, because of a few carefully-selected poll respondents in heavy Dem districts?
If so, congrats, you played right into the MSM’s hand of discouraging conservatives.
Not me. If Obama wants to steal this election, he’ll have to do it with the dead person, illegal alien, welfare mamas, crackhead, felon, and non-citizen “votes.” So don’t blame me when he puts those same people in the Cabinet.
Frankly, based solely on the size of Palin’s crowds everywhere she’s spoken, I still have the slightest glimmers of hope that she can landslide. Which would be awesome, because of all the Liberal heads that would totally explode.
“I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind; I am like a broken vessel.”

“… delving away in patient industry, supporting his family, paying his taxes, casting his vote, supporting the church and the school … but his is the only one for whom there is no provision in the great scramble and the big divide.
Such is the Forgotten Man.
He works, he votes, generally he prays — but his chief business in life is to pay … Who and where is the Forgotten Man in this case, who will have to pay for it all?”
– William Graham Sumner, 1883.
“All honor to the one that in this hour
Cries to the world as from a lighted tower –
Cries for the Man Forgotten.”

I don’t think we here have resigned ourselves to an inevitable outcome, nunya. I haven’t, and I plan to vote McPalin. I do worry about the gullibility of the rest of the voting population, though. Well, those who are actually living and breathing, not the fictitious voters ACORN has a habit of enrolling. Geez, if people haven’t figured out that the same names have been on the rolls in Chicago since 1880, they’re dumber than the Democrats give ’em credit for.
The point I tried to make to my students today (HS juniors and seniors, some of them to vote in their first election on November 4) was that we most often get the government we deserve, rather than the government we need, because of voter apathy and resignation to a predetermined media-orchestrated outcome. Even these teenagers realize that the media is biased; they told me so without any prompting. So… the kids realize that the election’s hosed, yet they’re still going to go with Hussein. Their parents seem to be aware of the same, and are still going to vote Hussein. It’s not that those of us here aren’t willing to go down fighting. We are. Yet, the result seems predestined. Why? I think one of my kids summed it up well today. She told me that ‘yeah, OK, people care about their money and taxes like the Republicans say they do, and that’s cool, but no one wants to vote against Obama and be called a racist and that they’re against helping poor people and the environment, and kill anyone in a war, like the Republicans are.’ It looks like all of the BS BO has been shoveling is filling minds to overflowing. It worked for Lenin, it worked for the National Socialists, it worked for Mao, why not for American Socialists. The Big Lie is always a crowd pleaser. My students even admitted that they KNOW Hussein is Socialist, but no one wants the stigma of being seen as anti-whatever BO is dealing.
That’s where the problem seems to lie. Not necessarily with conservatives giving up, but with everyone else in the country giving in. He’s not going to do it with the dead and illegal vote, but with mainstream, undecided, I-don’t-want-people-to-think-I’m-a-b*st*rd- because-I-voted-against-a-black-guy vote.
I wish it were different, nunya. Still, I’ll keep the iron clean and the brass polished, in case the call comes.
Most of your readers are probably way too young to even see the relevance.

True. I’m 59 and I don’t see the relevance.
I hope it doesn’t happen. I don’t want monkeys to fly out of my butt.
Although I guess it would be better than having to be a communist under the obama regime. But I’m still not going to like it.
There are alternatives tro accepting Obama’s Soviet States of America.
Go back to the Founders and the choices they faced in 1775.
Hey! I get that one! I *am* an old fart!
Impossible. McCain can’t lift his arms that high.
I don’t think anyone could in that suit.
I do like line two,”GOP Sweep Indicated in State”.
Nowadays in Illinois, the line would be: “GOP Sweep Indictments in State”

I’m 27 and I got it immediately. Hell, I’ve been praying for it. It’s not about age, it’s about education.
Sanjayrupta Pravati, that was cruel, but pretty darn funny 😀

And where did you people go to school? I’m only 35 with no real higher education and I recognized it right off.

Vote McPalin ’08! Make Liberal heads explode!
I’m 29 and I got it. Though I believe even Dewey had socially redeeming qualities, whereas Obama has none.
