Oh Yeah

I think I forgot to mention it, but there’s like a debate today that our economy and the whole foundation of our democracy will hinge upon.

You can use this as an open thread if you come to IMAO for serious debate (hey, have the trolls left?).

No One Reads IMAO Anymore; It’s Too Crowded

You may have noticed that an Instalanche shut down IMAO earlier today. That’s the hazard of WordPress; each page view means a bunch of SQL queries. I thought I had a plugin installed to cache static pages for traffic spikes, but it wasn’t working properly. Hopefully I’ll get that working soon, but until then we better make sure no one notices this site and tries to send it traffic.

UPDATE:

I think the cache is working now (it finally says it’s caching pages). Regular readers shouldn’t see a difference, though; I believe it only uses the cache versions for people who don’t comment.

lolterizt! Part 64

Pass ’em around, spread the love, and if you make your own, don’t be shy about dropping a link to your pics in the comments. The more, the merrier.

NOTE TO READERS: Hovering your mouse over the picture activates closed captioning for the l33t-speak/txtmsg impaired.

PRODUCTION NOTES:
#1: When creating lolterizt! pictures, please caption with either black or white text, as colors like red and yellow tend to blur badly when I compress the images.

#2: Standard image size for these posts is 350px wide by whatever high. If you can have your images 350px wide before you caption them, I won’t end up shrinking your captions into illegibility when I re-size the images.

MAKE YOUR OWN: The free lolbuilder from I Can Has Cheezburger.

STYLE NOTE: Short captions are usually better. Your goal is 10 words or less, with humor value tending to increase exponentially as the number of words approaches 1.

HAT TIP: Snapped Shot for handy links to ripe-for-captioning photos.

Send your submissions to lolterizt-at-gmail.com and – if they aren’t obscene (IMAO is a PG-13 site) and don’t suck too terribly bad – I’ll post them for you. Remember to include your name (and blog URL, if applicable) so I know who to thank.

The Disappearing SNL Sketch

The hilarious SNL sketch about the bailout that was surprisingly critical of Democrats I put up yesterday has been taken down (while all the other sketches from that same show are still made available from NBC). Michelle Malkin thinks the reason is because the old couple portrayed in it are real people, left-wing moguls Herbert and Marion Sandler. Since they are actual people, that does make the caption given them “People who should be shot” a little over the top — though arguably true.

Frank and Jonah Together at Last

I got meet Jonah Goldberg last night. He finally won, too. After months of false promises of sending me a copy of his book, I finally bought one so he could sign it. Anyway, instead of being serious and somber like you’d think, Jonah is quite funny in person. Also the debate between him and Peter Beinart was certainly much more edifying than the shouting heads stuff you get on shows like Hannity & Colmes. What I completely forgot about, though, was my brother’s connection between Jonah and BSU. Anyway, SarahK should have a post up all about as she’s better at writing about stuff that actually happened.

And while I’m on the subject, go Broncos!

Yet Another Questionable Obama Associate

Senator Barack Obama, recently taking more criticism for his associations with unrepentant terrorist William Ayers and racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, has now been found to have yet another questionable associate: Blogger and brutal killer of puppies Glenn Reynolds.

Glenn Reynolds (left) and Barack Obama (right) about to have drinks together.

Reynolds is a blogger, a type of writer who slanders others on the internet while wearing sleeping garments. Even more disturbingly, it’s well documented that to keep up the energy to “blog” all day long, Glenn Reynolds puts live puppies into blenders and consumes the results. This has earned him the name “puppy blender” from fellow bloggers.

The exact association between Glenn Reynolds and Barack Obama is unclear, but when Reynolds was asked whether the two had associated in past, he answered, “Indeed.” The Obama campaign was less forthcoming, finally claiming that Obama barely knows Reynolds and has simply had drinks with him on a few occasions. When asked what those drinks were, his campaign said, “It is not reasonable to expect Barack Obama to know the ingredients of everything he imbibes.” They also denied that Obama knew Reynolds puts puppies in blenders, even though this is a well known fact on the internet.

Governor Sarah Palin was quick to seize on this controversy, saying at a campaign stop, “Glenn Reynolds is a horrible man. He is brutal to puppies. He murders hobos and worships Satan. Worst of all, he doesn’t link to IMAO quite often enough. And this is Obama’s friend. This is not what we want for America. Doggonit, It’s not even what we’d want for Mexico.”

Stocks fluctuate after rout . . .

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks fell in quiet trading Tuesday as enthusiasm over the Federal Reserve’s latest efforts to inject frozen credit markets with a dose of much-needed confidence gave way to concerns about the balance sheets of some financial companies. Trading remained fractious, and the major indexes alternated between gains and losses a day after the market suffered another huge drop.
