No One Reads IMAO Anymore; It’s Too Crowded

You may have noticed that an Instalanche shut down IMAO earlier today. That’s the hazard of WordPress; each page view means a bunch of SQL queries. I thought I had a plugin installed to cache static pages for traffic spikes, but it wasn’t working properly. Hopefully I’ll get that working soon, but until then we better make sure no one notices this site and tries to send it traffic.

UPDATE:

I think the cache is working now (it finally says it’s caching pages). Regular readers shouldn’t see a difference, though; I believe it only uses the cache versions for people who don’t comment.

  1. Not sure if it was the new IMAO site, or new computer shenanigans at my office, but when I comment at work, my comments circle the drain for a long time before they work. Sometimes they don’t. Plays hell with my fragile ego. I hate flushing twice.

Not sure where I’m going with this, but suffice it to say that I didn’t notice this afternoon’s hiccup.
