Heh. It reminds me of the argument I always use for the squishes out there: Ooh, sleep deprivation? harsh environment? Crappy food? Sounds like Fort Sill! (although the chow hall at Fort Sill was pretty friggin’ awesome, as I recall. I ate worse as a civilian in Scottsdale). Wait. What was I talking about? Oh yeah. Torture. My son is facing infantry basic training, jump school and Ranger school. Sounds like these p*ssy Muslim terrorists need to man the hell up.
Funny stuff, this Steven guy. Puts it all in perspective.
I forget the part where Jesus said when told to, just roll over and convert to Islam. Some resistance by ignoring the guy with the splodin vest and his friend decapitating your countrymen is allowed if you remain PC and docile.
Life on a tropical beach , basketball courts , libraries , maid service , three meals a day served at your bed , better food than my wife can produce , no bills , no job , NO WIFE ! How the hell do I become a ” Enemy combatant” No wait ; THE OBAMA is closing club GITMO —— Damn—— now I need a new retirement strategy! If those guys locked in club GITMO are being tortured, The feds need to investigate my wife
Interestingly enough some of the actions Steven jokes about could land you in hot water in the military. If you gave a detainee a pink belly, that would be considered mistreatment and a violation of the Law of War. The sleep deprovation is another one lawers like to throw around but has no merit. The Geniva Convention specificaly says how much sleep a detainee is supposed to get in a 24 hour peroid. It’s alot lower than you think.
The one thing he forgets to mention about Waterboarding is that we’ve done it to 3 people. All 3 were addmitted and known to be involved in 9-11. In all if the only thing those bastards got was waterboarding, they should consider them selvs lucky.
I have to concur. Gitmo might make a nice parenting training facility. I had no idea Geneva requires a certain number of hours of sleep at night!! I need to apply for POW status. My newborn is torturing me!
That torture does not generally work has been proven and even counter terrorism authorities say so, and is against international law and traties which we have signed to, such as the Geneva conventions which you think somehow constrain us from being as backward and brutal as our enemies.
But that’s not the problem with the logic of the video.
If you were held as a prisoner, the problem is that you are not in a position to resist anything, while you are when you film yourself in your apartment and post to youtube saying “its not that bad”. See, it is not the actual act of stripping you which is the problem when they strip you. The problem is, the stripping or sexual molestation could only be the beginning and you are held against your will. As a prisoner, they own you. Every act of degredation is a threat that maybe more will come, and that their power over you is absolute including the power to take your life. Make a video saying “I don’t mind when the enemy owns me, forces me to do vile things, and suggests that there may be no limit or end to it except my death” and you’d have the proper comparison. You wouldn’t be laughing at Guantanamo nor if you were held by Muslim extremists, as you wouldn’t have the luxury of knowing you could end it at will like you do when you shoot your adolescent videos in your apartment for youtube.
Your video only props up a straw man to knock it down. Granted, music and a lot of stuff that was reported at abu graib is not torture. But the torture of abu graib and at other black sites which the us perpetrated and kept unreported for the most part IS TORTURE and illegal and no laughing matter and has harmed the US’s long term reputation around the world for short term gain. And reputation is what preceeds us when we go to do business around the world, and that loss of confidence in the US is partly responsible for the economic crisis the US is in, which is in some ways a confidence problem and at the very least our loss of reputation exacerbated the crisis. But you’d rather brook no dissent about any US policy no matter how counterproductive because you are the last republican in a world that just doesn’t understand you, I guess. Just know this: one day when you grow up a little more you’ll realize that it was you who didn’t understand the world.
#16 Smegma,
I’m roughly 20 years older than Steven Crowder. I have literally circumnavigated the globe. I have visited numerous countries and have friends from many of them. I have an education from a highly regarded school. Luckily for me, my broad perspective, education and experience allows me to understand the world. End result – the morally equivocating and PC world you come from can kiss my hairy white American butt.
People from Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, South America, and even tiny little islands did not like America 15 years ago when Bill Clinton was in the White House. To be fair, they did like our $$$ and wanted to live here. The loss of reputation touted by the liberal media is a fantasy. I was stunned during my travels by the animosity many foreigners have towards America. I did not understand it. Then I watched CNN international and it all became crystal clear. Propaganda works. Repeat a Marxist lie often enough, and it becomes the accepted truth.
I’ll admit that torture from a pantie-waste might not work, but just because you saw a so-called expert and a college professor on CNN say torture doesn’t work, does not make it so. You write like we live in the stone age. Advances in technology and understanding of behavior make even the lies terrorist tell to interrogators under stress a valuable intelligence resource. Why are you so anxious to take away our intelligence gathering tools? When a US serviceman or Federal Agent breaks the law, they are tried by a jury of their peers and punished. Where is your praise for our constitution and judicial system?
You bemoan the fate of terrorists, and you accuse the US of torture. Do you also condemn the murders committed by our terrorist enemies? Our terrorist enemies brutally behead prisoners, including civilians. Our terrorist enemies brutally torture prisoners. Our terrorist enemies intentionally murder innocent children and women. Where is your condemnation of them? Yes, innocent bystanders die when the US military attacks our enemies. Calling that equivalent to terrorists purposely targeting the innocent is truly demented.
America is so morally superior to our terrorist enemies that one would have to be consumed by hate and bigotry to think otherwise. I suggest you let go of your irrational hate before those self-destructive thought processes ruin your life.
These “people” gave up virtually all their legal rights when they took up arms against a nation state without themselves being members of the armed forces of another nation state, acting under orders from the government of that state. The US has been unbelievably kind to them, considering the actions the US could have taken against them that are clearly allowed under convention and treaty based international law.
salve…According to worldly liberal scholars like yourself, if abortion is made illegal women will die because untrained, illegal abortions will take place. Apparently, new laws or regulations will have a possibly unintended circumstance, right? So then, what would happen if morons like you actually got their way and enemy combatants that were not killed and were instead taken into custody could not be questioned in any manner whatsoever that might coerce them to give up any information and, thus, be of any value alive? Hmmm…I wonder. Just trying to apply your own logic.
The pink belly thing was a bit too long. Otherwise it was good though.

I had worse food in public school! And the Muzzies get Lemon chicken and they call it TORTURE? Gimmie a friggin’ break!

“video no longer available”
?
Crowder is the bomb. He’s the bomb! Everybody run!
WE get stuck with incessant whining of that guy in the White House. Where are them wimpy bastards defending us from that torture?
I have to concur. Gitmo might make a nice parenting training facility. I had no idea Geneva requires a certain number of hours of sleep at night!! I need to apply for POW status. My newborn is torturing me!
He forgot Indian burns, purple nerples, and noogies.
Now THAT was funny! Nicely done!
Its kinda funny, but not very well thought out.
