One of these things is not like the other … except where they are

So, Republican Christine O’Donnell is a crackpot because she said that masturbation is lust outside of marriage, and that is equivalent to adultery?

What she actually said was:

“Lust in your heart is committing adultery, and you can’t masturbate without lust.”

Ever heard that part about lust and adultery before?

Sure you have. There is this little book called The Bible. Maybe you’re familiar with it?

“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

— Matthew 5:27-28

Then again, if you only know what you read in the newspapers or hear on the TV, you might have missed that.

Jimmy Carter in Playboy Magazine

Unless you remember the 1976 presidential election, when the Democrat nominee, Jimmy Carter, told Playboy magazine the same thing about lust and adultery:

“The Bible says, ‘Thou shalt not commit adultery.’ Christ said, I tell you that anyone who looks on a woman with lust has in his heart already committed adultery. I’ve looked on a lot of women with lust. I’ve committed adultery in my heart many times…”

Now, Carter did catch a lot of crap about that interview. Part was because he gave the interview to Playboy. Part because of what he said about lust and adultery.

He was the butt of jokes at the time. But, it didn’t cost him the election. It actually helped him in the Bible Belt. The Playboy part didn’t; the Bible quote did.

Will O’Donnell be hurt by the talk about masturbation, lust, and adultery? I don’t know.

Is the media treating her fairly over it?

Well, I haven’t seen any media outlet approach Jimmy Carter for a comment on O’Donnell. That silence says a lot.

Democrats Campaigning Against Democrats

So more Democrats are running against Obamacare than campaigning on it. It’s just a hard thing right now to run as a Democrat when everyone right now just absolutely hates them. But here is one advantage a Democrat has when campaigning: He can show how much he also hates Democrats by legally beating up a Democrat on stage.

Here’s an idea to give a Democrat a boost in the polls: Walk on stage and say, “I know you hate Democrats for all the horrible things they’ve done under Obama, and I hate them even more than you. And I’ll prove it.” Then he can pull out a baseball bat and start whacking himself in the head shouting, “Take that, hippy! Why won’t you just make this country better by dying! I hate you! I hate you!”

Democrat beats up Democrat on stage — that’s got to be worth at least five percentage points in the polls.

Powell Come on Sunday Show for Fun Talkee-Talk!

Why is Colin Powell lecturing Republicans? He can if he wants to, but if he really wants to be taken seriously he better start it with the mother of all apologies.

“First off, I am obviously an epic moron for having supported Barack Obama as there was no reason to look at his background and think he’d do anything other than create this mountain of suck he has made. It was so stupid, it’s surprising I can even put sentences together gurgle wagha. There; now me done forget how to speak good. Me ‘tupid. Please give me hug.”

Really, shouldn’t some retailer have taken away Powell’s smart card and cut in two in front of him by now?

Also, it’s okay he denounce Tea Parties as radical and irrational as long as he also admits they’re obviously much smarter and more rational than he is.

Honeypot

In computer security, a honeypot is something made to look like a valuable part of a computer network to get a hacker to attack it, but is actually a trap meant to redirect hackers’ efforts from more vulnerable parts of the network. I see something similar at work with Christine O’Donnell. She has a number of vulnerabilities such as disgruntled former campaign workers and misspent campaign funds that speak towards O’Donnell’s trustworthiness, but the left isn’t focusing on that because they have the bright shiny things of her speaking against masturbation and saying she dabbled in witchcraft in high school to go after. The left like to ridicule — especially things they see as part of crazy right-wing morals — and there they go after the silly attacks instead of the real ones. And are people who would otherwise support O’Donnell because she’d vote for lower spending not going to vote fore her because she said she tried witchcraft as a kid? Maybe, but that sounds a lot like the patronizing predictions that people wouldn’t vote for Obama because his named sounded foreign.

Anyway, the attacks may hurt some, but the left could be doing a lot more damage than trying to find out if O’Donnell weighs as much as a duck. And it gives her more of a chance.

Random Thoughts

Why is Obama still blaming Bush? Shouldn’t he have locked Bush up by now to keep him from harming the economy?

The best path to unity is for all the RINOs to crawl into holes and die (but please still vote!).

Is there even one enthused supporter for Murkowski who doesn’t get a paycheck from her or is a blood relative?

Does seem like Angle should cruise to victory now that she has O’Donnell to make her look like the sane conservative.

So what happened with Fenty in DC? It was discovered he wasn’t doing coke?

If Michael Moore is so desperate for attention, he should take off his shirt and do the truffle shuffle.

Box of QTips warns not to stick them in your ear and tries to pretend there are other uses for them. Society is nothing but lies.

The worry about nominating O’Donnell was the legitimate attacks against her, yet people seem to be just focusing on the idiotic.

Not only was O’Donnell a witch, she used to hang out on TV with a troll.

If O’Donnell does win, that will wreck electability arguments for a while. Not a good thing.
