If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.
For we know in part and we prophesy in part; but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.
When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.
But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Thank you. This is such a powerful image, and so very true. These people will have a rude awakening when they stand before the throne of the God they claim to worship and follow.
Nice. Thanks, Frank J.
Oops. Thanks, BASIL.

Oh, thank you, Basil. I totally TOTALLY needed that this morning. If I could, I’d give you a huge hug. My God is soooo much bigger than man’s narrow, angry mind.
Well Done!
By their fruits ye shall know them. This tiny loathed group of people really does get way to much airtime.
Side note, always thought the KJV translation of Corinthians 13 that uses “Charity” in place of love seemed much more accurate.
Replace that word for gay with “whitey” and you could not tell them apart from Obamas crowd.
Sean O’Casey wrote a pretty good play entitled “Red Roses For Me”. In it, a few of a Protestant minister’s congregation are complaining that the lilies that have been placed in the church’s sanctuary are “papistry”. After the argument rages for a few minutes, he tells them “you are too young by a thousand years to know the mind of God.” I try to keep that in mind for myself, and I think that applies to the Westboro Baptist Church. Those folks are much too sure that they know what God thinks about the USA and about homosexuals.
Keeping Basil’s excellent post in mind, consider some more of Paul’s words, these found in Galations 1:8…
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
It must be tough to be a liberal, their programing tells them to hate anyone calling themselves a Christian but i bet they secretly love these freaks.
They hate the country too. I bet if these poor kids were forced to hold anti-abortion signs, they’d want the ‘parents’ arrested for child abuse.
Well done, Basil. Well done.
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer. 1 John 3:15
They will be much surprised when, on the Day of Judgment, they hear ,”Depart from me. I know Thee not.” When will “Christians learn that God hates No Sinner. God merely Hates the Sin within. If God hated the Sinner, the why would He have sacrificed his only Soon, while we were yet sinners? Even before we were born. Knowing all the sin we would commit, and the times we would fall short. I don’t hate those Baptists. I hate the things they do. God turn their hearts.
Wow, Basil – That was truly a great piece. Thank you.
Well done, Basil. It also challenges us to forgive those who trespass against us. Personally, my heart hurts for those children in that group.
Basil smacks ’em upside the head with The Good Book – sweet!
And that pretty much sums it up. There couldn’t have been a better way to contrast those guys with what a church really is.
Thanks
Brilliant!
Matthew 5:43-45
You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
As much as I’d like to pray that the rain would wash them away, I guess I’ll pray that they read the words in red and live them
Something I always wondered about them, and anyone else who hates America; why don’t they just leave?
A great big North Georgia thanks, Basil.
Your post says it all.
I’d like to compliment the Supreme Court for somehow being clever enough to find an excuse to say that killing a baby is not an infringement upon its free speech, that limiting who can support what candidate or buy what advertising as part of campaign finance reform is not an infringement of free speech, but not letting disruptive people torment the innocent families of our nation’s military that have been killed in action would be. Nice job, idiots.
Basil, you piece is far and away a better statement than anything I’ve seen on this subject. Kudos.
We pray that they’ll see the light, or having the light taken off of them, they will scurry away, bless their hearts.
With the amount of face time these clowns get from the public media, combined with the insanity of their message and stunts, that these fools are just a bunch of agent provocateurs of the left designed to give substance to the claims of “hateful Christians” the liberals are always making?
Another great post from a fellow Georgia man….(golf clap)
Well done Basil!
Sorry, I meant, “Your piece is far and away better…”
I didn’t mean to call you a piece, Basil.
What is wrong with these people? I think they are under Law yet to be freed by the Gospel of Christ!
Best post I’ve ever seen on IMAO or anywhere. “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Hmm, looks a lot more like punditry than humor. Posting such things on an alleged humor site could get you in trouble with the pundits union, and you know what a bunch of violent kooks they are, probably because they have no sense of humor!
Don’t forget Matthew 18:1-7! http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2018:1-7&version=NASB
Fred Phelps & Co. may well find out what God really hates when they reach their eternal reward . . .
There aren’t enough stars to rate this post as highly as it should be rated. Thank you, Basil.
Lord, Lord, have we not prophecied in your name? And in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
I know it’s been said, but well done Basil. These folks are an embarassment to all humankind. I only wish everyone could realize how much they are despised by 99.999999999999% of the planet.
Bravo Basil!
John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Thank you, thank you thank you Basil you are my hero today.
Matthew 22:
35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
The unfortunate thing is that no matter what we say, no matter what Jesus Christ says these people will continue their reign of terror. They are Satans handmaidens and will they have their reward here on earth. I pity them.
Great post, Basil. Couldn’t have been better defended. And yeah, I feel sorry for the kids who have to hold those signs. 15 years from now they’re gonna be thinking WTF?
Thank you Basil!
Thank you Basil.
While God is extremely Holy and will have nothing to do with filth, these folks have forgotten much.
“Be not overly righteous, and do not make yourself too wise. Why should you destroy yourself? Be not overly wicked, neither be a fool . . . the one who fears God shall come out from both of them” (Ecclesiastes 7:16-18).
Beautiful…. a contrast of truth versus deception.
Wow. Thank you! And Amen.
What are Fred Phelps and the WBC afraid of? Rainbows? Unicorns? A flaming pink queer apocalypse? I attempted to address this with a portrait of the good reverend on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/03/fred-phelps-and-westboro-baptist-church.html Drop in and let me know what you think!
