Nuke the News: The Big Game

* So there was a Super Bowl over the weekend. I didn’t think the commercials were that great this year. There were only a handful I liked. Like the one with the dog in running shoes. What did you think?

And a Battleship movie? Come on.

As for the game, well I guess it was exciting that last minute or so.

That’s all I have to say about that.

* There was also the Nevada caucus Saturday which Mitt Romney won handily. That means… I dunno. I don’t think anything. This is all going to get dragged out until at least Super Tuesday which is March 6th. Then hopefully we’ll have a merciful end to all this.

* By the way, have you ever heard this story about Mitt Romney and the search for a business partner’s missing daughter? It certainly doesn’t make Romney or Bain Capital look that bad.

* We had good economic news, which is bad economic news so far as it means Obama has a better chance of reelection. Of course, it’s only good in relative to how bad things are (and the unemployment number is only good if you ignore how much smaller the workforce is that it used to be). Still, it’s inevitable the economy is going to rebound at some point no matter how much Obama worked against it; capitalism is just too strong. And when you get the bottom that low, a big boost is inevitable eventually.

Still, hope we can lose the dead weight of Obama in November, but I’m going to try getting into the 1% either way.

* As for another reason we need to get a different president, look how one of Obama’s favorite Justices tells Egypt that our Constitution isn’t a great model to follow and they should look to other countries. Of course, is it that big a surprise that liberal Justices don’t like our Constitution when they do everything they can to ignore its meaning?

Of course, maybe the reason Ginsburg thinks she doesn’t like the Constitution is that she’s never actually read it.

* Wisdom of the Day from James Taranto:

I’ve never seen the antiabortion side of the debate try to deny the other side’s existence the way the pro-abortion side does.

  1. I wouldn’t mind if the movie was really based on the board game — U.S. Naval forces vs. Godless Commie Chinese forces, maybe — but no, oh no, can’t piss off the foreign market. Better make them aliens. Who sail boats. Yeah.

  2. By the way, have you ever heard this story …? It certainly doesn’t make Romney or Bain Capital look that bad.

No I hadn’t heard that story. I wonder why the MSM hasn’t mentioned it? Oh, wait…probably because of the “doesn’t make Romney or Bain Capital look bad” part.

  3. leave it to the government to spin 2.5 million less jobs and the LOWEST PERCENTAGE OF THE POPULATION ACTUALLY LOOKING FOR WORK possibly ever as a positive thing because some number, that by itself means very little went down slightly.

  4. Thanks for the link to the story about Romney/Bain Capital and the search for the missing girl. Surprisngly, I had not heard anything about it before; despite the fact that it places capitalists in such a favorable light…..oh, wait..never mind…
Anyway, it WAS, after all, just a matter of chance that by shutting down a successful business for a while, co-ordinating a search effort by employees in several “seedy” areas (by people who usually don’t even drive through those areas, let alone talk to the people who are there), recognizing and enlisting the available resources of a variety of businesses, and working with law enforcement; Mitt Romney was just lucky enough to help reunite a family with their 14 year old daughter. To be fair, IF the child had happened to be on any golf course, (preferrably on Marthas Vineyard in August..), any Democrap might have found her, too. Afterall, we have a Community Organizer in charge now. It’s just a difference of opinion about how things get done…

  5. “Of course, maybe the reason Ginsburg thinks she doesn’t like the Constitution is that she’s never actually read it.”

No, she’s read it and she doesn’t like it. If she was in charge she’d abolish it. And, if it wasn’t for the Constitution, she’d be in charge.

  6. I really enjoyed the part in the half time show where one of Madonna’s minions flipped me the bird! That was awesome and how orig.! Must have taken months for them to come up with a slick move like that to tell all us rubes sitting on the couch watching that crappy 1/2 time show what the performers were trying to convey to us with the performance! But I got the subliminal message because I am super smart! The whole performance was a giant F.U. to America!!!

  7. If it wasn’t for the telephone poles put up by the government phone company, who the government paid taxed to put up,
they never would have found that evil little rich girl. She was found on the backs of oppressed workers highly paid union
hacks. If she only had one parent, like you’re supposed to, she would have had all the drugs she needed at home and this
never would have happened. I bet her father doesn’t pay his FAIR SHARE either!! That poor kid probably has to work now,
    thanks to that greedy %$*&.

  8. “And a Battleship movie? ” Did it escape everyone’s attention that there are no battleships in service anymore anywhere in the world, not to mention here in America? The last active battleship in the world, the USS Missouri, left service on 31 March 1992, and the last two battleships to be on call to serve, the USS Iowa and the USS Wisconsin, were removed from the Naval roles in 2006. So, exactly what battleship is going to be in, “Battleship?”
