[High Praise! to my Blogless Brother]
Now, I’ve heard it said that, thanks to its use as the fast-forward chase music on The Benny Hill Show, the song “Yakety Sax” can make ANY chase scene funny.
So here’s some fast-zombie chase scenes from “Quarantine 2” [rated R for gore & violence]. Does “Yakety Sax” make it funny?

I vote yes. Another example of why Benny Hill music makes anything funnier: http://youtu.be/OtVQV965pVw
I dunno if it makes it funny exactly, but it does basically take away any of the scariness of the scenes. That is pretty incredible how a song can completely change such gruesome scenes like that.
Really though, when ISN’T zombie violence funny?
It definitely has its moments but it would be funnier if the video was sped up to match the music.
There are plenty of zombie movies that are funny without Yakety Sax. The real proof of the power of the tune would be if you could set it to four years of CSPAN footage showing Congress not passing a budget.
It seems that what it actually does is pierce the veil of unreality and eliminates the suspension of disbelief. After that it just looks like an actor running from other actors. Which is all it really is in the first place.
And to think, this study only cost the National Science! Foundation $750 million.
Aren’t a few of those clips from Dawn of the Dead?
Colin – entirely possible. I’ve never seen Quarantine 2, I just took the information from the video’s description.
Yaky Sax makes the world go round.
