[High Praise! to Ace of Spades HQ]
_______________
The report (pdf) is worth a read to show just how little difference any of the proposals from the left would do to actually address the topic. This fact in particular just leaped off the page at me (“literally” as gun-grabbing Joe Biden might say):
“Typically, the immediate deployment of law enforcement is required to stop the shooting and mitigate further harm to victims. Typically, active shooter situations are over within 10 to 15 minutes.”
Let me rephrase that for you: “Typically, victims are sitting ducks for the 10-15 minutes it takes law enforcement to arrive.”
This is what happens when the government mis-focuses its crime prevention efforts on preventing law-abiding citizens from using firearms to defend themselves. When the left says, “the police are there to protect you”, what it really means is, “you’re expendable”.

Always remember that the left wants high body counts. The more people killed the more leverage they think they can get.
The left isn’t concerned about the individual. They’re all about serving the collective. Losses of individuals is acceptable to them if it serves the greater good.
Play fair; it said that most likely it’s all going to be over in less than 15 minutes. It doesn’t say it will take 15 minutes for law enforcement to arrive (which it might). The point being that the first responders can’t secure the perimeter and wait for SWAT; they have to engage the individual (and it probably is one individual) promptly.
Good point. An active shooter is unlikely to bring more ammo than can be expended in 10 to 15 minutes. Ammo is heavy.
10 to 15 minutes. average response time 20 minutes. Look up the Supreme Court’s decision on Warren vs District of Columbia. to paraphraes it says you can call 911 but, they don’t have to respond unles you have a “special relationship”. You can’t make this shit up. Really everyone should look this up.
Fact: If you don’t have your own pistol, you may have to wait for the rest of your life for the police to bring theirs.
And in ANY emergency situation, one second can feel or be an eternity (particularly if you are getting shot at or otherwise having your life threatened). When the fertilizer hits the oscillating device, there is only one person who is always going to be there, only one person who has a vested interest in your survival, and only one person you can count on to help you; that person is you. I’m not willing to bet my life on the reaction time and good intentions of others.
I’m sure you’re right on the response times; I guess I was being pedantic in pointing out that the report didn’t address that. I didn’t say 15 minutes (900 seconds) wasn’t a long time when you’re being shot at; I tend to think it is, though I’ve never been shot at, since I have hit a 50 meter target in three seconds.
