Who Are You to Defy the Pope? Are You an Empress? A Saint? A Deity?

An international group defiantly opposed to the Roman Catholic Church’s ban on women priests ordained a woman Catholic priest.

Sorry, just because you can steal a car doesn’t mean you’re qualified to be a cab driver.

  1. The Roman Catholic Right of Ordination requires the participation of an archdeacon and a bishop. I’m pretty sure that didn’t happen. They can call it an ordination – but that doesn’t make it one.

  2. Why not? They pretty much redefine a word’s meaning to suit their fancies all the time. Marriage anyone? Rape? Racism? One could go on but it is pretty clear that once you lost the language you lost the argument since you are no longer arguing what you think you are arguing.

  3. So maybe I’m missing the point but if you don’t like what your church teaches shouldn’t you find a church that teaches what you like? There seem to be a multiplicity of churches that choose to have women priests. They should find one they like and be that. If you are Catholic I would figure in religious matters you would defer to your ecclesiastical leader but social customs are much more important than religious tenets today. Because, rocket science.

  4. seanmahair, would you believe I was baptized Catholic?

But nobody asked me when I was that age, otherwise, based on what I know now of this history of “Catholicism,” I would have said “No thanks!”

Catholicism is like the U.S. Senate: an old boys club.
