  1. April is a good month for mathematicians to be born. Fifteen days ago, it was Leonhard Euler’s birthday. Today, it’s Carl Friedrich Gauss’s birthday. He was born in 1777 in Braunschweig, Germany. He gave us the normal distribution, pioneered non-Euclidean geometry, and did much more that I don’t even begin to understand.
