Throughout WWII the Army and the Navy both had air forces, and the importance of air superiority in modern warfare was well understood. I’m not entirely clear on the point of having a Space Force.
I served in the USAF 1969 to 1973 and my birthday is also the same. In basic training at Lackland we were handed the Air Force Manual to study and on page one it stated the date the AF was created; since it was my birthday, I’ve never forgotten it.
Andy, I just wanted to thank you for your service in keeping me safe between the ages of 3 and 7.
I did my best to return the favor in a Navy way from 85 to 91.
Thanks to you and all veterans, Harvey.
I’m partial to the new one…
Coincidentally, I signed my contract on the USMC’s birthday, also helping me never forget it.
