Wednesday Night Open Thread

A few years ago, I got to see Tim Conway and Harvey Korman live in Las Vegas. It was great. They were great.

The more of the greats we lose, the less funny the world is.

  1. I saw the Apple Dumplin Gang in the theater and liked the Tim Conway Don Knotts combo. I was very young so I’m sure even the simplest jokes were the most hilarious things I’d ever heard.

I thought Hot Lead and Cold Feet was also a Conway/Knotts movie but Tim wasn’t in that one.

I remember seeing an interview with him saying he had a license plate made once that read “13 Weeks” because every attempt he had at his own tv show only lasted 13 weeks.

I never liked Dorf On Golf but rumor has it those videos made him a bundle so more power to him.

I really liked the Carol Burnette Show as a kid and I’ve seen the elephant episode of Mamas Family but I don’t claim to have seen it when it first aired.

    Thanks Tim.

  2. So, just thinking of losing greats .. I’m guessing we’re all out of genuine Vaudville performers now?

I miss Burns Berle and Hope

Technically, Dick van Dyke is old enough to have been if he’d been a child star, but he came to entertaining later than that.

    • Burns and Allen is on some broadcast channel in the early morning.
      I love that show.
I’m not sure if Abbott and Costello were vaudevillian, but they had the patter. They made me laugh hard. 4×13=28 is one of my favorite bits. He could add, subtract, multiply and divide it. High-larious.

I would wish I was old enough to have seen vaudeville but then I’d be dead.
