NASA Can’t Find the Mars Rock Sample That the Perseverance Rover Drilled — It Mysteriously Disappeared
The Business Insider via MSN | 09 Aug 2021 | Morgan McFall-JohnsenNASA has spent nine years and about $2 billion in its quest to drill and store samples of Martian rocks. The Perseverance rover was poised to finally make that happen for the first time on Friday.
The rover picked a rock in an ancient Mars lake bed that could have once held alien life, and attempted to drill. But then something strange happened: The sample seems to have vanished without a trace….
…To figure out what happened, NASA is instructing Perseverance to take close-up pictures of the bore hole it made.
Straight Line of the Day: So what happened to the missing Mars rock?

It’s aliens.
Yeah, I said it.
Ray Walston stole it back
It’s under the middle cup.
It had info on the Clintons.
Mars University paid $50,000 to have it hauled away, because millennia ago someone called it by an inappropriate name…
Talk about blaming the victim!
I’m sure someone, somewhere, sometime called Al Sharpton a racial slur. When does he get hauled away?
He and the boulder both got hauled away. And I thought we were living in a post-glacial society!
He took longer to move, though. Needed a Putsch Coalition.
Did they move it to Birmingham?
Did they check ALL the way in back of the junk drawer?

It now self identifies as a moon rock.
It was part of the Illudium pu-36 Explosive Space Modulator.
Perseverance is obviously male… and needed to get its rocks off.

Somebody crushed it into powder to demonstrate the difference between hematite and hydrohematite.
What rock Comrade?
We will never know. Perseverance blew a fuse when told to circle back.
I don’t know what happened to it but a Hard Place looks a bit too pleased with itself.
IMAO used it in a miniature “proof of concept” test before the full-fledged operation on the moon.
May I have a private word please?
If this is about the numbers for upscaling, no, we can’t just increase the kilotons simply to account for the diameter. The volume is determined by 4/3π(r cubed), so we need to plug in 1737 km for r, which means somebody is going to have to go back and get us a s**tload of kilotons.
I am not in the Science department. I am in the Security and Re-education division.
Then maybe we should have had this conversation in private.
DON’T DO IT!!!
So what happened to the missing Mars rock?
It is NASA’s first successful deployment of the SEP field!
So what happened to the missing Mars rock?

The rover picked a rock in an ancient Mars lake bed that could have once held alien life…
“Where’s the biome? There was supposed to be an Earth-shattering biome!”
