I once got something wrong, and it was an unpleasant experience.
I don’t know if this has ever happened to you, and I hope it doesn’t. Let’s just say I typed one thing instead of another, and it was a complete error. Mistakes were made.
Now, if it was just a simple typo, we could all just move on. Everybody makes them — Joe Biden makes verbal ones, and he’s called our president.
But it was a statement of fact. I believe Joe Biden was once familiar with these as well.
An error of fact you have more to be embarrassed about. People call it “cringeworthy,” but it’s “Karensworthy.” People from all over the world will enjoy pointing it out.
OK, I made a mistake in saying that the Gettysburg Address was delivered last year. Am I so different from Biden?
Universally, the outrage generated from a mistake is directly proportional to the political party of the speaker. Their guys get cold over the rakes, but our guys are raked over the coals.
See how nonsense phrases can help us move on? If I were Biden, how many reporters would actually ask, “What does that mean, sir?”
I’m assuming the reporter as being polite, but this may be a second mistake. They’re getting quite weird.
Sometimes your side’s blunders are not mentioned by the press at all. This is called an error by omission. And sometimes your guy gets paid huge sums to promote a product on the national stage. This is called error by commission.
