Why Two Forbidden Trees?

This has always kind of bothered me. Wasn’t one forbidden tree enough? Seems like those youngsters were walking through a virtual maze of forbidden trees.

The Two Trees, Part 1 and 2: The Tree Of The Knowledge Of Good and Evil and The Tree of Life

Among the many trees in the Garden of Eden, Scripture tells us, stood two trees of great significance: the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life.

  1. In my backyard:

    The tree of angry hornets.
The tree of freshly washed car defecation.
The tree of infinite lawn sticks.
The tree of chipmunk roof grenades.

This last one is a massive spruce tree that fruits 1.6 million pine cones to pick up every year. The chipmunks cut all the cones and let them fall to the ground for later collection. Unfortunately the flat roof of my garage is directly below the tree, so those cones hit the roof at about Mach 7. Nothing like pinecone gunshots at 3 AM to get you to post up at a second floor window with an air rifle.

  2. There was only one forbidden tree. The tree of life was not forbidden, Eve chose the only tree that they were told was forbidden. After the fall, man was kicked out of the Garden of Eden, and thus at that point could not partake in the tree of life.

  3. That clears one thing up. I always thought it was the tree of the knowledge of life and death. But I suppose the Tree of Life was still forbidden in the sense that it was not permissible to chop it down to make tent pegs and firewood.

  4. Before humans had Knowledge Of Good and Evil they didn’t have a conscience, and were animals! Thank you, Satan, for stealing this feature from God and giving it to humans so they could live up to their potential. Or should we call you Prometheus?
