Ravizza “Wanted To Have Some Fun”

Martha’s Vineyard Times | May 28, 2024

Jared Ravizza, the Vineyard man accused of a stabbing spree Saturday on the South Shore, had a simple answer when asked why he later led state troopers on a high-speed chase that ended in a fiery crash of his SUV.

Rushed to the South Shore Hospital in an ambulance, Ravizza told an emergency room nurse that “he wanted to have fun tonight, and he was running from the police because he wanted to have some fun.”

[Big fan of Wang Chun and Cindi Lauper, apparently.]

He now faces 14 criminal charges as officials accused him of wounding six people with a knife in two seemingly random attacks on the South Shore, set an arraignment date for him in Edgartown for allegedly attacking his father, and identified him as the focus of a homicide investigation in Connecticut.

Whew! He identifies as a tri-felonial!

Ravizza … remained silent during two separate hearings Tuesday when he was arraigned in Plymouth District Court for allegedly using a kitchen knife to slash two employees of a nearby McDonald’s restaurant on Route 3 in Braintree. His lawyers filed a plea of not guilty in the case.

One of the victims, Eliamny Garcia, had only arrived in the United States early last week and Saturday, when the attack occurred, was her first day at work. She was midway through her 8 am to 7 pm shift at the McDonald’s when she heard “a commotion” coming from the drive-through window, she told police in Spanish.

Moments later, she told police, she saw Ravizza enter the front door. She said he looked like “a homeless person,” with shaggy, shoulder-length blond hair and no shirt.

It was then that she noticed he was carrying a knife that looked about nine inches long.

“Ms. Garcia stated that the suspect was holding the knife above his head and she saw him start to run or walk quickly towards her,” the police report said. When she retreated, “she was stabbed by the suspect near the potato machine

🙂

She put her hands and arms up in a defensive posture and the suspect stabbed her in a diagonal north to south motion.”

🙂

Igor Marques, 29, was shift commander at the restaurant.

🙂

… Marques told police that Ravizza “looked like a man and a woman at the same time, had long blond hair, pink fingernails and… looked stressed.

Another witness, Dorrie Young, described Ravizza as “appearing like a 1970s rock star” because of his bare chest, long blond hair and “wild” colored, baggy pants. She noticed him outside the restaurant urinating.

🙂

“Young stated that she was startled, surprised and taken off guard by this” as she saw his private parts, she told police. She said Ravizza “had a ‘big expression’ on his face, which she later described to be akin to Jack Nicholson’s expression in The Shining.”

… Connecticut State Police are separately investigating Ravizza in connection with the death of a 70-year-old man in Deep River, a small town in the southern part of the state. The body of Bruce Feldman was found outside a house Saturday afternoon after police responded to a report of an “audible disturbance.”

Hiker finds secret WATERPIPE supplying China’s tallest waterfall – forcing officials to apologise for misleading tourists
daily mail | 6/6/24

Chinese officials have been forced to apologise after a hiker found a secret waterpipe supplying China’s tallest waterfall.

The video, posted to TikTok’s sister app Douyin on Sunday, showed a large water main embedded at the top of Yuntai Mountain Waterfall, touted as China’s tallest uninterrupted waterfall.

Millions of tourists visit the 1024ft-tall waterfall every year, drawn in by the ancient geological formations that date back more than a billion years.

Officials for Yuntai Mountain Geopark, a UNESCO-listed site, made a bizarre social media post, apologising for the additional pipe by speaking as the waterfall itself.

‘I didn’t expect to meet everyone this way. As a seasonal scenery I can’t guarantee that I will be in my most beautiful form every time you come to see me,’ the post read.

I made a small enhancement during the dry season only so I would look my best to meet my friends.’

Let me guess . . . the hiker committed barmecide?

Idaho Presbytery Employee Accused of Embezzling $330K
Ministry Watch | June 6, 2024 | Jessica Eturralde

[“Eturralde the Unready”?]

A court in Idaho Falls, Idaho, has determined that a case will move forward for a church employee accused of stealing over $330,000.

According to court documents, Fisher was the Presbytery of Kendall’s secretary and bookkeeper. In October 2022, a Kendall Presbytery employee reported that Fisher had been embezzling from church funds.

The employee told police the staff had paused meetings for the presbytery’s annual financial reviews since the COVID-19 pandemic. Although they were not meeting, the employee claimed to have repeatedly requested that Fisher produce a report of the Presbytery of Kendall’s finances.

In October 2022, the board of trustees chair collected the organization’s bank statements by contacting the banks directly

Duh!

According to the claims, the employees uncovered “numerous unauthorized purchases and transfers out of both accounts via Venmo and Paypal dating back as far as 2020.”

The Presbytery of Kendall’s Wells Fargo account listed Fisher’s Venmo account as a payment method for transactions.

The documents say two employees confronted Fisher, and she allegedly admitted to making unauthorized transfers and purchases. But two months later, when an Idaho Falls Police officer questioned Fisher about the allegations, she denied taking the money.

From Fisher’s PayPal and Venmo transaction histories, investigators estimated that Fisher spent over $338,458 in church funds on unauthorized purchases from January 2019 to October 2022.

Fisher reportedly used the church money to buy a red 2018 Honda 4-wheeler and pay a local landscape designer. The secretary also deducted over $280,000 from the organization’s Wells Fargo account and used the stolen funds to finish a basement in her new house, police records say.

Her mortgage, child care, food, gas, furniture, and a dog were all additional charges.

Well, when life hands you lemmings . . .

3 Reasons There’s Something Sinister With the Big Push for Electric Vehicles
internationalman.com | June 04, 2024 | Nick Giambruno

25 refrigerators.

That’s how much the additional electricity consumption per household would be if the average US home adopted electric vehicles (EVs).

Congressman Thomas Massie—an electrical engineer—revealed this information while discussing with Pete Buttigieg, the Secretary of Transportation, President Biden’s plan to have 50% of cars sold in the US be electric by 2030.

The current and future grid in most places will not be able to support each home running 25 refrigerators—not even close. Just look at California, where the grid is already buckling under the existing load.

Massie claims, correctly, in my view, that the notion of widespread adoption of electric vehicles anytime soon is a dangerous fantasy based on political science, not sound engineering.

Hiker mauled by grizzly in Grand Teton National Park played dead, officials say; bear won’t be pursued
CBS News | May 23, 2024

The grizzly bit into the man’s can of bear repellent and was hit with a burst of it, causing the animal to flee. The 35-year-old Massachusetts man, who’d pretended to be dead while he was being bitten, made it to safety and spent Sunday night in the hospital.

…the man said he came across a small bear that ran away from him. As he reached for his bear repellant, he saw a larger bear charging at him in his periphery vision. He had no time to use his bear spray before falling to the ground with fingers laced behind his neck and one finger holding the spray canister. The bear bit him several times before biting into the can of pepper spray, which burst and drove the bears away.

Investigators suspect from the man’s description that the smaller bear he saw was an older cub belonging to the female grizzly that attacked.

He was expected to make a full recovery.

mmm.. Grand Tetons …
