Just a reminder, today is the anniversary of when Pearl Harbor was attacked. We responded to this attack on American soil by the Japanese by declaring war with Germany. Eventually the public whined so much about it that we gave up and thus Germany is still around today.

I remember that, they withdrew after some hard fought french beach landing turned into a quagmire.
It’s also the end of an era for the surviving personnel. Many of the servicemen who were there stated that this will be the last anniversary reunion for them, citing old age, the fact that there are fewer of them every year, and that it’s just too heartbreaking to keep reliving the memories.
Dec. 8th, 1941 Headline – “Secretary of State Cordell Hull invites the neighbors of Hawaii to join an international committe that will seek to aide the stability of the the western pacific region.”
If I understand correctly, Japan attacked the USA and then the USA declared war on Germany.
Wouldn’t declaring war on Japan be the more obvious choice?
If not, countries would rush to attack the USA in order to avoid being in war with the USA…
Isn’t it apparent to erveryone that if after the attack on Pearl Harbor President Roosevelt could have avoided a costly, ill-advised and poorly planned military adventure by sitting down with both Japan and Germany and discussing how they could help us out of what became a quagmire that ended in inglorious victory for the US and started the spiral down into the bowels of ignominy that eventually resulted in Iraq? Am I alone here? Hello! Hmm, ignominy, that’s a good word. Should have used that in the Surrender report.
Roosevelt could have avoided the whole mess if he would have just solved the Joooo/Palestinian problem!
The US declared war on Japan on Dec. 8. Germany declared war on the US on the morning of Dec.11, and we then declared war on Germany and Italy later in the day.
Ahh, the good old days, when all an enemy had to do was look at the devastation and millions of dead around him to know he was beaten.
