I was never a big fan of The Doors. A lot of people were, though.
That’s right. When I have a music video in one of these Open Thread posts, it’s not always something I like. Why? Because some of you do. And one other reason. We’ll get to that later.
Right now, it’s your turn. It’s Thursday Night Open Thread.
What’s on your mind?

Have a drink to put you in the pink…..

I’ve actually had worse than the above. Back in my youth I got blitzed on Bali Hai and it gave me the worst hangover I’ve ever had in my life. I’m not even sure if they even make the stuff any more, and for the sake of our children™ I hope they don’t.
When Harvey runs out of Icebreakers*, he can try that: “What gave you the worst hangover you ever had?”
*This will probably not be called an Icebreaker, but a puke-up line.
P.S — Mine had to be over-consumption of the cheapest beer obtainable, Meisterbrau. Oh, for God’s sake!!!!
We only learn by pushing the Unnnnnhhvelope.
From the link to the Kurt Schlichter article.
“Actually, don’t stop them when they go this way. Scummy drama queen invective like this is proof that our stubborn defense of our rights is working, and that they have nothing else but to lie about us. Their hysterical shrieking helps motivate other people who may not have been paying attention to protect their rights. After all, “You support murdering children!” is a super-effective way to alienate normal folks and highlight the essential dishonesty of the gun banners.”
My retort would be, “I’m not here to argue about abortion rights.”
I like Schlichter more the more I read him.
You know that it will be untrue
You know that I will be a liar
If I was to say to you
Collusion couldn’t get much higher
Come on baby, light Meuller’s fire
Come on baby, light Meuller’s fire
Try to set the right on fire
The time legislate is through
Not time to allow in deniers
From now on we can only lose
Strzok & Page’s love was a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light Meuller’s fire
Come on baby, light Meuller’s fire
Try to set the right on fire
You know that it will be untrue
You know that I will be a liar
If I was to say I knew
The one who got us to conspire
Come on baby, light Meuller’s fire
Come on baby, light Meuller’s fire
Try to set it right
conspire
{Fadeout: sounds of the media, a seemingly undending organ of the Democratic party}
I object.
The final line should actually read:
Try to tell the Right “You’re Fired!”
And now for something completely deferent:
I popped over to Keln’s website. His thoughts about California:
“This is a state that downgraded to a misdemeanor from a felony, the KNOWING TRANSMISSION OF HIV. Let that sink in for a second: In this state, it’s considered worse for a waiter to give a straw to someone who didn’t ask for it than it is to give someone an incurable disease that can only be held in check by massive amounts of expensive medication.”
That’s only a taste.

I thought, “giving a straw to someone” was a euphemism.
I like The Doors. Some of their stuff is outstanding – some is self-indulgent and overblown. But they had a unique sound and Ray Mazerak in particular gave them distinctive and timeless quality.
A while back I heard Nicole Atkins (much better) version of The Crystal Ship from The Doors first album. At the time I didn’t recall the original although I must’ve heard it many times – but I knew immediately that it was a Doors song she was covering.
I saw them in ’69. Still my standard for “SUCKED!”. Morrison was unable to sing most songs, mumbling incoherently. At one point the drugs/booze must have balanced out and he pulled off a few moments on “The End” but only a few before it collapsed back into sucking.
1685 was a very good year for composer births. Johann Sebastian Bach was born in 1685. Domenico Scarlatti was born in 1685. Today’s birthday boy, however, is George Frederick Handel, born in Halle, Germany, February 23, 1685. He moved to London in 1710, spent the rest of his life there, and is buried in Westminster Abbey.
In 1717, King George I asked Handel to compose music for a concert to be played by musicians on barges in the Thames River. Handel’s music for this event is known today as the Water Music. Here is a hornpipe from the Water Music:
